So today I was passing through Omicron Theta on my way out of system after meeting someone at the Freeport. I get CD by a Gunship and his friend a Bomber. My character is neutral with them and I wasn't doing anything in the system apart from flying through. I hail the two of them and say "What can I do for you". The gunship replies that he is feeling "trigger happy" and wants to know how much I would pay to live? He warns me further than since I am carrying codenames in my hold I should pay him instead of dying. I ask if he would like the code name weapon instead of destroying me outright. I get no response from him or his bomber friend. Then he brings my shields down. Now this is a pretty common practice that I get when I am in a transport so I thought it was a warning and I begin typing another message and then his bomber SNACs me.
I didn't really care at first, but I was thinking about it and they hadn't given me the chance to try and pay or exchange anything. Moreover, his partner who was part of the engagement didn't speak the entire time. In the end I lost the codename (it was only a Jade, I could care less) and eventually quietly left the system afterward.
Now my problem is that they really didn't give me much time to reply with anything or demand any actual amount of credits. Not to mention that being trigger happy is a very uninteresting Roleplay reason for attacking people. If he wanted to loot my hold and said that I wouldn't be complaining but this time it was a little random.
Well, it depends. I don't find "trigger happy" to be very RP, or a good engagement notice, since I also hear engagement notices lower than 3 words is frowned upon.
But offering him a CODE and you still didn't get a reply? I am biased to think that the guy is a PvP'whore...

The guy asked for the code gun and for money, indirectly.
Sanction? For what???
What is 'good RP' if you cant say you are feeling trigger happy?
You guys are kidding, right?
Uh, no.
From what the OP has stated he was never asked for a gun and the "how much are you willing to pay?" idea is suss at best*.
*How much are you willing to pay to live? can be considered suitable in some circumstances, but it appears not to be in this case.
Screen shot. Sanction. Unfortunately that's how things work in Discovery.
The fact that the bomber said nothing and then fired a SNAC which killed you is not very nice to say the least. A little warning may have been nice, they both seem like two normal cowardly pirates, which I crush all the time... sigh...
Give me their names and I will give them what they deserve.
