Hey guys, been super busy with work so I've been off the FL crazy train for a while. Just getting back into it and experimenting with Modding. I started with the Starflier, seemed logical if I was going to reskin a lot of the vanilla originals ships / weapons / starspheres. My first serious attempt, in game and concept shots included.
Just wanted to get some feedback before I do any more work on it.
Do you think this is something the FL community could embrace?
I love me some freelancer and the Vanilla models are nice, just seems like we've been at this for long enough to merit modernizing a bit. The 8bit textures are getting a tad heavy on the eyes for me.
Not really sure how far this could progress. I'm still very new to the process of extracting these resources and managing the game files. But with a Vanilla install I was able to complete this in about 4-5 hours including the learning curve and tracking down the tools I needed (UTFEdit / Milkshape / etc..)
More interested in some general feedback and getting a feeling for what the players think. I love the game as is but once I started with the Starflier skin it REALLY stood out in the game environment. I think if I got into it a bit more the texture updates would just start to fall into place.
The in game shots were taken outside pittsburgh, so I'm looking into some other skins to see how complex this could get eventually. Starsphere / Planets / asteroid models / and so on.

Thats what I had in mind, It would make for awesome RP. Say link the docking ring to the "surface" system, and then link that system to the actual planet base.
While being quite funny, your sig was the biggest one i've ever seen so far. No more than 700x250 please. ~utrack http://pastebin.com/SYQXBufs
One thing I was wondering though, could the FL game engine handle the extra load caused by all of the high res textures, or would it just be up to what your graphics card can handle?
