Will be getting to the hardpoints and ship stats next week so I wondered if anyone had ideas for how the junker cruiser should be configured.
Assumptions:
Made from wrecks, often in excess of 100 years old so lots of raw metal welded together and poor technology: thus very good hull strength, terrible turn rate & firepower of a frigate. Large cargo space (for junk) and above average bots/bats (can assume the crew are mostly mechanics/engineers and good at on the fly repairs). Should be more dangerous than a train and more agile but not as dangerous as a high-tech faction cruiser. Good rear firepower as ship would have a primarily defensive roll. Minelaying capacity would be nice as it's the sort of low-tech dependable technology I'd expect to get used. Undecided on fixed forward firing gun... may change the model to have a retro looking sensor dish instead with the scanner hardpoint.
Sounds like fun! I've always wanted to see a Junker cruiser. Should be interesting. And, even as Igiss drops the hammer, I'd point out that a ship with a cruddy turn rate wouldn't be suited to a forward gun, anyway. Besides, tricky stuff like that isn't the Junker style. I can't wait to see it.

Excellent Nadir, a Junker cruiser would be very welcome. I like your description, being cobbled together from bit and pieces..... I can picture this cranky Junker captain, covered in grease, then this steam pipe suddenly blows on the bridge and he bashes it with a hammer, while yelling at some poor squid.
Although I would not put a fixed gun on it, as you would expect that on vessels made for war, whereas this thing is more defensive. As Igiss points out.... yes turrets only.
And don't forget to make the model asymetrical! You know, bit of Liberty here, piece of Bretonia there, a chunky Rheinland rear-end, bodgy Kusari fins (for the retro look), that sort of thing.
If you are refering to the design elements that influence Junkers, then it would be Liberty, Reinland, Bretonian, GMG, civilian, Rogues and Outcast...maybe even a little Hessian.
