Hello, I am almost saved up to the point to be able to buy a BHG Battleship "Mako". I want to know what guns are best for the Battleship. I like hi rate fire, but want to win against mainly fighters and bombers -REV
Well high refire rate stuff is faction secondary turrets as well as Solaris. But really a BS to tackle Fighters and Bombers? I can think of far far better ships then a BS for that. You'll be scrapped into junk quite often from the bombers. Need to be with friends if you use a BS, that are stay far away (above plane prefferably) so you can RP without being demolished if alone.

Against bombers and fighters? The only way to do that is full Solaris and one or two Razors.
Thing is,the solaris lacks range. But anti fighter setup or no,three bombers will still blow you away very easy. And why setting a Battleship to hunt fighters? You give away more than a billion credits only to -try- to kill something that's worth less than 50 Millions.Makos shooting at lone fighters also tend to piss people off.Make it full Primary and put a Battle Razor. That way, you'll be able to fulfill the Battleship's role - destroying enemy capital ships.
A "Battleships" role can be whatever you want it to be.
Anti-Bomber setups have been very successful, Although hunting lone fighters is a bit much.
It is fun to destroy the thing that is designed to destroy you though. Huahaha
Sadly, the devs blame us for the weapon inconsistencies.
Solaris's do not work effectively on larger battleships, such as Rhienland BS, Kusari BS, Zoner Juggenaut, Outcast Drednaught, Corsair Drednaught, ect.
With the boost that Primaries and Secondaries got recently I suggest mixing in BS Flaks. I found them quite effective since I very rarely meet a bomber that stays out of it's range (1400). The odd one that does stay out of 1.4 k bubble gets attacked by my escorts who stay out of that range themselves.
I have seen Mako solaris several times how it failed epicly. It was 2 or 3 praetorians against Apoclypse now(Anti-cap) and Apoclypse Cyclop Arga(anti-bomber,full solaris).Don't know about skills of Cyclop Arga, but those 2 or 3 bombers pwned both of them.Maybe because of model or something, not sure but Solaris aren't so good on BHG BS.
Most effective solaris loadout I have seen was on Osiris.
I tried it myself, against 5 bombers,I killed one, rest fleed.they did took my shields and some hull but nothing big.I managed to chase them away. They couldn't get near. But thing was I was switching targets all the time.

Don't worry, the solaris setup works even very well on the biggest BS.
The proof is my own BS that kicked 2 BAF VHF in matter of seconds. (If I knew it would be jailed, I would do that myself)
Just a tip : To keep the maximum range and efficiency :
Do NOT make a full solaris.
Concentrate the solaris on the front. More they are grouped in a close space, more range you will win.
Place a mortar on the back.
The exorcismo was tested in a 5 v 1 fight, 5 of the best bomber pilots the OPG have. We didn't even scratch the hull.
