Hector Savage was born on transport ship carrying cardamine en route to planet Malta. His parents were Libertonians, and best guess is, they were captured by Outcasts. Savage is probably not his real surname but more of a nickname given to him while he was still a kid. In a fight with other boys he beat three of them all by himself. Yes, Outcast took him and his parents were probably killed. He never found out real truth about them. Only thing that kept him alive was young Outcast women named Lenaya who took him from that transport to raise him. She was extremely skilled pilot and taught him much of what he knows today. He believed she is his mother, and often asked her about his father only to get same replay every time: "When you reach 18, I will tell you everything." Nomad war prevented that. Lenaya was killed while Hector was only 16, but she left him a letter in case something goes wrong. It was short letter revealing a bit of truth. He found out his parents were from Liberty but all question he had remained unanswered. He couldn't do much at that time so he decided to master flying and acquire a ship. That proved to be rather difficult now when he was on his own. He joined some sort of Outcast "fresh blood" training camp and got his first Dagger. After some time he was in a real strike squad. Small pirating around Taus and patrolling were his main missions. Unlike other pirates from his wing who decided to spend all the money on Cardi, alcohol and women Hector started saving money for real fighter. Promotion in his squad now called "Bloodwing" got him Stilleto, his first heavy fighter. New experience and more hours of practice. In 813 AS things will change for Hector. Outcasts signed new treaties with Liberty Rogues, Mollys and GC. Their campaigns are now spread across the Sirius and Hector and Bloodwing start pirating in Bretonia and Kusari since they were preparing for war, it was easier to attack civilians. One major pirate operation in Kusari made Hector rich and nearly dead. Not actually rich but he earned 2 millions from that attack. They struck train convoy and they paid only to delay Bloodwing long enough for their backup to arrive. It is not what they expected. Out of 12 members only 3 survived. GC attack stopped ultimate slaughter. His ship was seriously crippled but since he got the money he got himself Sabre. That was a masterpiece he always wanted to fly, and since Bloodwing was no more he was free agent now. He assisted Outcast in few major battles with Corsairs in Eta and Alpha and in 816 AS he decided to leave Alpha and head to Liberty. Trip proved to be more challenging than expected. Outcasts weren't famous anywhere and lot of people decided to shoot him just because of his identification. Other hard part of the trip was bringing enough cardi. Living with Outcasts made him addict but not as born one. They can't rid of it, Hector could, or at least he hopped so. He started to skip regular doses of Cardi at 813 AS. It made him less addicted by 816 AS. War was raging between Kusari and Bretonia. Hector pirated people for money and payed for sleeping on some Zoner bases or other neutral ones. Sometimes luck wasn't on he side so he would sleep in his ship docked on some small asteroid. He got to Liberty through Kusari. He found a Rogue base in New York and they accepted him. That was a place to start. He had to play by Rogue rules now but it wasn't much different then Outcasts. He'll adapt. After three months he had to get back to Alpha and then again down to Liberty in 817 AS. He still didn't have luck with parents, but slowly, he's sure he'll succeed.
I haven't been very existent in these logs but I manage he he. Today was busy day. I found out about Rogue destroyer flying through New York. I decided to leave Buffalo and look for it. It doesn't change location too much. It stays in fields hidden from sensors. On the way I caught small transport. He begged for his life and I let him go. I'm getting soft, but I'm tired of killing. I'll get credits from some other guy I thought. And really I did. Some rich Zoner didn't want trouble. Too bad he was too slow in transferring. By the time I got the money, 3 Liberty Guardians were on my tail. I managed to cripple engines on two but one well aimed cannonball blew my lower Kraken and it was time to call it a night. Third didn't pursuit. I found destroyer and docked. Two minutes ago I was looking at my ship:
"Damn! I lost teh cannon!"
"You really did" said familiar voice from behind.
That was one of few Rogue pilots Hector could call a friend so far away from home. They flew several times together and got to know each other better. His callsign was Hawk.
"Yeh, bloody patrol tore it off."
"Well you are lucky today", said Hawk: "I got one Sammy to spare. It's yours!"
"Thank ya amigo, ye saved the day!"
Today was close. Maybe bit t0o close for my taste. I started to feel in New York like I was home. Navy is in war with Rheinland, they got hundreds of recruits and they are really easy to manipulate. But today while I was convincing 3 liberty fighters and one gunboat commander that I didn't break any law by flying through system LSF agents caught me. Just few minutes later I was surrounded by 12 ships. "Damn you!" I cursed myself for letting my guard down. It seems LSF chief herself was here. Miss Julia Wolfe. I tried to buy my freedom by fighting her one on one. she agreed! It wasn't really a hard fight, pilots in Liberty aren't exposed to harsh life in edge worlds but then other LSF agents jumped in and saved her. Dang! I surrendered. But, as they say every black cloud has a silver lining. They decided to take me to Texas. There was some kind of prison. Julie sent two of her agents to escort me. I tried to learn as much as I could about them by small talk. This was their first arrest. "Well, well, that's my chance". They informed prison from 6K that they are bringing a prisoner. Now there is one really good thing about prisons. They make 'em real tough from outside so if you make trouble inside nobody will notice it. I shut my engine from 4K and let ship carry me slowly into the prison. Young agents already turned around and were docking the trade lane as my ship was entering. That's my chance. I turned ship while it engine was killed, shot one ripper mine and hit full thruster just to barely exit the gates before they closed. "That's one landing bay less to worry about, he he he." Cruise engine was already charging up... That was too close for my taste!
Maybe not said before but Hector had one big weakness. It's the women. And especially are the warrior ones. They drive him crazy.
Roaming through Liberty again I stumbled across two Universal pilots. Not sure were they universal at all now, but they were quiet aggressive. They actually started to question my ship and it's paint. Hah?! It's not painted?! Ye right! Soon two navy pilots joined them. One was in gunboat and other was bomber. That was now: "A situation". To my surprise Universal and Navy didn't really get along. At start it seemed like a joke, but later I'll realize they really don't get along. Still that didn't help me much since soon navy engaged. I had to cripple bomber and then another patrol showed up. This time it was main Navy fleet. Two fighters and one of 'em is Admiral Ryan. Psh, what are chances to meet and Admiral on regular patrol. His wing man was lovely miss Sarah Willows. God that voice. I believe that's what the call: "Love on first sight". While Ryan was determined to kill me, she was very kind. And those Universals were starting to annoy her. I did what it had to be done and blew their ships up with help of that lovely lady. I guess that was just what Ryan expected and with help of some other navy pilots engaged me. I know how to fly but that was just too much. I started to run into asteroid field calling for help. Luckily, Rogue destroyer was near and provided shelter. *whew* Another close one. But I must say it was worth it! Sarah promised me a coffee when she gets some free time. Damn! What a lady!
Deep voice woke me up today. I grabbed my watch and and it said 4:00 am. Ship must be burning! I jumped from the bad and saw old crewman in my room.
"Ugh, yea?", I somehow responded.
"The man you were looking for... Jeremy Kaiser... remember? He sent you a message to meet him. Now I wouldn't wake you up if it was anything else, but you said this is of utmost importance!"
Psh, it is important all right but not for you to wake me up! Dang!
"Uh, thank ya, I'll be right there."
Ten minutes later I was reading message from Jeremy. I met him a long time ago in Sigma 19 system. We were in good relationship with Hessian Army back then, and he was some pirate workin' for them. Good man! Haven't heard from him in while. He told me he flies through Bretonia and Omegas these days and we should meet somewhere. Hamburg or something like that. If somebody could help me around here that was a Freelancer flying around not being shot on first sight. I sat down and started to write... Guess I'll visit Rheinland soon. Good! I never been there... Just have to find some charts now.
Well, no reason to delay my small trip anymore. I downloaded some maps and jump gates. I'm heading south from New York to Texas, from there to Bering and next jump brings me to Rheinland. That should be smooth, except the fact it's a bloody war zone out there. He he he, just what I like, adrenalin! Getting through New York and Texas wasn't hard. Didn't see much patrols. Bering was real fun part. Even though I was in border zone I decided to stay away from trade lines. Saw Freeport 1 on the way and then something caught my eye. Massive discharge of weapons. Normally you move away from those situations, but I had to check. Moving closer, I realized it's a massive fight between Rheinland Military and Liberty Navy. Now that was fun to watch. And tell ya the truth, rumors, it seems are right. Liberty is more powerful and outnumbers Rheinland in this war. Since in these fights you keep comms open I could hear them too, and right in the middle of that fight was familiar voice. It was lady I met recently... miss Sarah Willows. Well that was good enough reason for me to stay. First time in my life I actually felt I want to help people usually trying to kill me. While thinking about it, shadow passed over my cockpit and ship appeared in front of me. Liberty fighter... and pilot, psh, Ryan McTavish. That nasty Admiral. Ya know, I'll have to shoot him down someday. He wanted to arrest me again but fight waited for him. Not to pass the chance he brought LSF with him to do the dirty work. Well that's what you get when you fly your ship to the middle of Liberty strike wing. Right... Guess I'll have to fight my way out of this one. Well bring it on! After few discharges of weapons guy named David Hale orders LSF to stand down. What a?! Those orders came from miss Willows, she says she'll deal with me. Damn! What a woman! Dave's ship was crippled in the fight but Liberty was anyway wining so I guess he wasn't needed anymore. I formed with him and we proceeded to the Freeport 1. Seems this Hale is Fleet Admiral! Damn, it seems I met whole admirality of Navy, he he he. Soon after fight, few navy ships appeared on my long range scanners. Miss Willows was one of them, and yes... the other one was Ryan. Hale left the area, and I was already prepared for a new fight since those LSF dogs were back. I decided to put that in second plan now since Sarah was here. Seems she hasn't forgot about our encounter and that she's still counting on that coffee. Great! But that LSF guys just didn't want to back down so it was time to move. Rheinland it was... I promised Sarah I'll be back soon! With LSF on my tail I jumped to Hamburg. I maybe don't know system but neither do LSF and I can hide much better than they can search. Psh, rookies. After about an hour, when I was sure they aren't looking anymore I docked my ship on one big asteroid. Well this won't be the first time I'm sleeping in cockpit.
