I'm curious to know if I have to be in a faction in order to purchase battleships and cruisers. Or can I be neutral and storm around in one with my reason as, "I'm so big, no one will attack me." Thanks.

Well, there is no restriction on buying them, but RP can be hard for factionless
people...

Not necessarily, I'm not part of a faction - acting it like a rogue... Bounty Hunter for hire, or patrolling Bretonia as a Sgt. (Would actually love to join one, but have to sort out my crash problems first...)
But anyway, like Ghost Cat pointed out, you can buy them, just stick to the rules...

Although you can't put neutral ID in anything other bigger than a freighter...

As these guys said, you dont need to be in a faction to get a certain ship. BUT the ID needs to support the ship (IE, you cant have a Battleship with a Trader license) Also, it probably would be best to make sure you have an RP-istic reason why you have that ship.
Finally, (I'm not 100% sure on this, so please correct me if I'm wrong) But I think you have to have the ship that matches your tag. For example, if you have an Outcast Dreadnought and are aligned with Rheinland Military, that wont make sense.
Now sign here...and here... give us your arm and leg.... and sign here:rtfm: Congrats, you got your Battleship:P
I'm pretty sure that restricting your ship choices by faction is not a 'rule'
If any RP character wants a ship, & they have the $$$, & the rep to buy it, then why not have the freedom to do that?
If I (as a Gaian) wanted to buy a battlestar, & have support from a few Hammerheads instead of Vipers, then why not?
I know that it would look strange to see a Gaian tagged Battlestar or BH-VHF, but, it's just an asthetic peave.
It's like seeing a Volkswagon & concluding that all Germans should drive nothing but those.:nono:
