Alright, so my graphic card decided to commit megabite suicide recently, which forced me to purchase another. This particular one being the "Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT".
It loves all my games apparently, bar Freelancer.
Essentially, what happens is that the game loads up, I'm able to actually play. But only for a brief period of time before it causes my entire computer to hard crash. I'm unable to ctrl-alt-delete, alt tab, or do literally anything but manually hit the restart button. When the crash occurs the game simply freezes where i am, and the music/sound effects are on a continuous segment repeat.
This is what I've done:
I've downloaded and installed the latest drivers for the card
I've downloaded and installed the most recent DirectX pack.
I've downloaded and overwritten the flconfigdatabse.txt file with the newer file that accounts for more recent graphic cards.
I've followed the instructions here: http://forums.seriouszone.com/showthread.p...ncer-s-database
and manually added my card information in it.
I've uninstalled Freelancer and the Mod manager (including the mod), then reinstalled them.
I've toggled with the "run in windows 98 compatibility mode"
What I don't understand is that I've been playing it quite happily with this card since i installed it for the past three days. But today, just awful.
I'm at my wits end. :(

Freelancer has no issue with that Card Model, as I have the same VGA and it all works just fine.
And I don't even have that 'Newer Cards Fix' thingie. When I first run FL after a fresh install, it says my card is not on the list blah blah, and I just click the 'Dont ask this again' and 'ok'. And thats it, I play without any problems... So, there might be a problem with that particular file, and are you sure you've done it right when you were manually adding the data?
Okay, i think I managed to track down the source of the problem.
When I ran the "dxdiag" I did the tests, and it just so happens that the "directdraw" test caused my complete computer lock-up. I attempted to run other games this morning, and they froze exactly the same.
I'm going to attempt a reinstall of the directx drivers and see if that helps.
