I've never edited for Freelancer, but an idea occurred to me while playing:
Many large ships get stuck in stations on launching. Would it be feasible to edit/recreate the Freelancer stations, to place the launch points outside the station body? If it were, I'd be able to overlook the minor visual problem of my ship appearing out of nowhere if it meant I could dock a large vessel without fearing for my ability to launch again.
Apparently "unsticking" isn't impossible in multiplayer, but as I play SP only it brings my play to a screeching halt. I have to save at each base I know I can launch from, and when I land at a base I immediately try to launch to see if I can save there or need to load again. It makes exploring largely impossible in anything other than a VHF.
it must not mess with the singleplayer though - i think as long as igiss wants discovery run singleplayer, too - the choices of multiplayer options are limited. - but a visible mooring fixture on the bigger stations would be nice
