That green/Rusty sh\kin is exactly what I'd expect from zoners. And especially one of their juggernauts, built years earlier (and sitting in corrosive clouds full of bacteria)
' Wrote:back? - thats the front ! *sigh* ...... ok, but it really is the front
Ah, err.
Well. Truth be told, while FL departs from Newtonian physics and all, an engine or two in the front would be nice, just so someone could explain to me how a ship of that size comes to a halt.
But, folks, look at the windows in the control tower. Look which way they're facing :D
reworked the front part and the habitational parts - added 2 biodomes. still not what i m looking for, but it looks more sized for freelancer now, - compared to the current juggernaut. at least its easier to tall the back from the front now:D
edit: roughly 1800 polygons, quite a lot, so there isn t much more room for details - but i think its fairly detailed anyway.
edit2: explanation to the model... :
the internal skeleton is a very long and thin cylinder that is made out of 3 parts ( you can see the 3 parts from the front of the ship ... bit the structure of the nomad ships with their three fins - in the end, that ship was found in their space ) - i then placed habitational modules on it and engines. the final part was stripping armor platings over those parts that make the characteristic look of the juggernaut. ( the shell like roundish front and the back )
gunplacements would rather be 6 in the very front, then there are 2 hardpoints below the frontal shell, then - like the current juggernaut 2 on each wing and 4 guns on the underside with a 360 degree - but a lower arc. so that the juggernaut keeps its "weakspot" when attacked from above. - in addition, it would be weak from the rear. - of course that would weaken it very much compared to the current model ( which can fire 12 out of 16 turrets everywhere, even through the model ) - in a way, it wouldn t hurt to even add 2 more turrets, but then... why so. the powercore of 7mio can not support too many guns anyway - and after all, those ships are not made for fighthing )
to make up for the limited firearc, i d much rather like it to have a bit more cargospace than other supersized battleships. so maybe 2000 instead of 1700.
I'm actually really liking this Jinx, its good work there. I'm just not convinced the overall "Feel" of it is FL entirely. The front is gorgeous, but for it to fit the FL mold better maybe fewer panels, and have them more industrial looking in their placement, somewhat like a blast resistant bulkhead for frontal combat maneuvers. But that is just me.
Im sorry Jinx; that model is epic. I'd seriously have to re-consider my feelings about Igiss' sanity if he doesn't put this one in-game. By all means, carry on developing it, but, in my opinion, you've already found perfection.
*sniff* - i like the skins i make with photoshop:). - but yes, i would like to use freelancer textures, too bad i never managed to extract them, or i would just use them. - so the textures i use are all hand-drawn.
edit:
since chars are down anyway - i made a new texture that is a little more appropriate for a big ship. - mind you, it looks a bit like junk now - like made out of too many tiles and pieces. - that texture setup offers less contrast but is closer to the texture AoM used for the destroyer, i think.
the internal structure is textured in something that looks like "old iron" - with dusty and rusty parts. the armor is now more like an assembly of many smaller steel pieces. looks more like something older and repaired now.
