So... I was wonderin' to myself (after being given this idea): Have Vanilla Battleships had their destructible parts removed for players? I mean, that was how Flak was made less useful, right?
It would explain why player battleships don't have those cool explosion effects anymore... :?
I'm not sure what you gettin at, but player ships(original fighters at least) have destructible parts. Take a titan
and tell someone to shoot at its wing, after some shots it will explode or just fall off and float in space.
Try shooting the bottom katana-like fin on a Playerflown KU battleship with a supernova. Do it three times, and the guy will die, whether the battleship is on no health or not... most likely not.
Flak was made less useful by:
1. Reducing their area of effect.
2. Reducing their damage.

Have you tried this in 4.84?
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
I think he means the capship animation of it breaking apart when it gets to 0 hull. they make huge explosions, and the parts slowly comes apart.
since i yet have to see a player cap being blown to bit... dont know.
Bounty Hunter Battleships make pretty bangs. They also spew debris in every direction.
Same with Liberty Battlecruisers. We (Bs|) lost two fighters due to the explosion annihilating of shields and debris smacking them in the face.

Player capships and transports don't explode like NPC capships and transport because of some glitch that allowed people with such ships to control their ship while it was exploding. I think.
They should still have destructible parts AFAIK though.

well - NPCs control their ships, too - while it explodes. - untill the loot appears, the "wrecks" still keep firing. - only ... a player capital ship would dish out a lot more damage while it exploded... i think its well around 15 seconds untill an osiris is finally done ( from the point it hits 0 hull to the point that lhe loot appears ) - thats enough damage to turn the tide of some battles.
