Anyway, that's a cool sketch, Xing. Far better than the current <strike>elephant</strike> carrier.:)
Hey, you can't see a talented drawer when he's right in front of ya? :P
Did that in Windows paint lol..
Anyway I think that the guns can shoot through the hull.. I think it's on
many other capships now.. (For example when I flew that Admin Corsair Dreadnought
yesterday, my Heavy mortar mounted on top near the bridge could shoot in almost all angles,
and even trough the hull.)
If yo uturn on OpenSP and modify ur savegame in Ioncross savegame
modifier, you can turn Admin faction to friendly and buy Admin Corsair Dreadnought
on Lost Battlestar!
Here it is!
By the way it's HUGE almost as big as the Battlestar itself..
Quote:I would personally like to see 2 more turrets on that thing but, well I don't care much anymore to be honest.
Actually, that would be incredibly suicidal and make the Liberty Dreadnought a proper Uber-Pwnzor ship. The Dreadnought it currently a very maneuverable craft with a low cross section, almost as low and maneuverable as the Osiris. The Osiris has 12 guns and 340000 armor. The Liberty dreadnought has 420000 armor, almost as much as the Dunkirk-class Bretonian Battleship, which has almost double the cross-section, 14 guns and an only nominally greater armor at 440000. Hence, no upgrade for the Liberty Dreadnought. When I had mine it WAS the UberPwnzor. I on;y got shot down twice, as compared to my eighteen battleship kills, and the time when I, solo, survived two Indie and two Phantom bombers in the same romp through Tau-31...
Quote:There's no such thing as ADMIN Corsair Dready:P.
Actually, Mini-Mike, you're wrong:Pthere IS an Admin Corsair Dreadnought, left over from 4.82. It's modeled after the Venator-class Star Destroyer (Or whatever the hell class you want to call it, it's bigger than a Victory and it's a wedge, what more do you want!?), and it is no longer sold on a player-accessible base because it had massive hitbox issues. The Hitbox is located above the main hull, so that the only way you'll ever hit it is to get above or below the ship. It only has 14 guns, last check, but a thousand batts/botts and more armor than you can possibly desire makes for a fine, fine Dreadnought...if you could actually hit it...
As for the Carrier replacement model, Xing, I say bravo! Get that hunk of junk out of space. And I do have a few design suggestions. Don't listen to these other unimaginative n00blets:P
First, do NOT, under ANY circumstances, give this baby an Axehead. The logistical difficulties of working that into a carrier are horrible, and I guarantee the final product will look like crap. Instead, to create the proper Liberty feel, you should replicate the engine found on the Liberty Dreadnought. That way the old engine effect will work fine and you can concentrate more on the rest of the ship.
Second, symmetry here is a good thing. Instead of a flat flight deck, try a symmetrical one that curves downward at about a fifteen degree angle on either side, with one pair of catapults up towards the bow of the ship and another symmetrical pair on the outcroppings (of which there should be two, one on either side) at the midsection where the secondary catapult is now on the drawing.
As for the bottom, make it smaller than the flight deck so that the flight deck outcrops around it a significant amount (except at the rear, where the engine needs to be mounted). There should be a third smaller flight deck there with two regular docking ports like those found on the Liberty Dreadnought. After all, the ships have to land somehow, ne?
EDIT: Wow, that post took almost twenty minutes to write!

' Wrote:oh, that's a good idea <strike>funseelie</strike>. I mean, Unseelie. And yeah, I'll put a landing bay at the bottom.
Praetyre, I know carriers as such is impossible. But we already have a liberty carrier, that most people think is very, very ugly. I thought of the unity as a replacement:)
ok there is a mod that makes carriers workable.
i just have to og digging for my carrier thread from a while back.
secondly, Xing awesome job on the model
do what eppy says (it sounds cool)
Anyway. I like Eppy's idea of making the secondary launch shoot the same design as the primary. the rear landing bay would probably be enough.
What really got me was the engine design. Instead of the asymmetrical 2 starboard-1port engine. Make the two small engines uppers, and as the hull tapers down, make the single engine at the bottom, a bit bigger.
Then, 2 forward turrets, two rear, 3 on each side, and 2 on the deck ("Main guns?") All with different firing arcs. Yes, a broadside should be more powerful than a straight-on, but I don't fly Battleships. Is 12 turrets enough for it?
oh and forgot somethings regarding doctrine
1.It should have maybe 10-12 turrets
2.they should be able to mount dessie weps
3.it should be about the size of a dreadnought
4.Powerplant should be that of a destroyer (or BC)
5.Its a carrier, and carriers are not designed to be battleships, so in short, YOU SHOULDNT HAVE TO HAVE A BS LICENSE TO FLY ONE
