ignorant people! if yu simply follow what simply was said on the first page you would have a full zoner rep! is the easiest rep that you can get with cash! you don't ned to fly long distances is just erie to beth, 1 minute journey, a double bribe and get a FULL zoner rep! for God sake how hard can it be?
and crassus ... you pick my post to say that players that are wasting time trying t help him, even one ADMIN already make his notice, and he even call us ignorants? who is the childish? thre are posts every here about rep, all first replies are good enough for him to understand what his wrong but he still don't get and even said that he don't read all and continue to blame the system and want a admin to fix HIS mistake ... and we are ignorant and childish?!
my God now i start to understand why more and more people are leaving Discovery!!! and also funny is that his second post about the same thing and the other was locked!
i made so many Zoner GUARD rep ships, and i even sold some, and my main ships are have a very modifed reputation, and i even can say my main char is FULL green to 10 to 12 factions. it is hard.
and now a "new guy" can't make a simple zoner rep, screaming demaning one admin to make his wishes, and even after so many people said everything that he should do, he still demans for one admin to fix his mistakes ... and we are the ones that are ignorants and childish!
A double bribe is not an "exploit" no matter how much you want to call it that. It's an expected and planned-for capability. If it wasn't intended to exist, it wouldn't exist.
Getting Zoner rep via double bribe is extremely easy. I've done it myself a couple of times. Anyone who fails to get it that way isn't running into a problem with the game--they're running into a problem with themselves.
This guy's main problem when I met him in game was that he had a Zoner destroyer and had already acquired a Zoner ID. He did not however have any guns on the vessel.
As we all know to install a comprehensive weapon loadout you still need the guard rep to be full.
I remember making this mistake myself on a different server many moons ago. I was fortunate enough to find another player who was good enough to buy some guns for me. I think the ship at the time was a corsair legate.
Atleast then I was able to do missions to gain the guard rep.
The Zoner situation ofcourse is not quite so simple.
The subtitle of the OP shows that the guy was just a beginner who didn't realise the base mechanics of the game. (He already had the Zoner ID}. I never figured out how he came to have the ID but then ended up with a Zoner rep of +0.7. I think he must have got the rep and the ID and then tried to buy all the goodies at the Om 74 shipyard and discovered that many weapons were still unavailable to him. Then he tried to fix the rep situation and screwed up. I guess to a beginner the guard rep in the absence of a guard ID could be confusing. I don't think there is any information in the wiki or elsewhere about the relevance of guard repping.
The main point of this post is to point out that new members can be confused about certain aspects of gameplay and we owe it to these people to be supportive and helpful where possible,

People were *trying* to be supportive and helpful. The individual in question was being aggressive and hostile in response, not reading what people were saying, and assuming that he knew more about the game than people who have been here for years.

Yeah I think you hit the nail on the head there. There's alot to take in when learning freelancer as a beginner. The way I see it, I think he made a good effort to rectify this himself - I mean he stated he tried the double bribe thing for two hours, shooting the depot items, et al. He was told that an admin manually rectified this for another user and i guess in his naivete after trying for over a day to sort this out he was basically rebuffed. Which of course is unfortunate.
The way I read it was that he didn't need the advice given from other users, because the advice that was being given were all avenues that he had already previously explored. When he tried to reiterate that he tried that already, he was met with some really unhelpful commentary.
Yes, he could have demonstrated his feelings better, but it could have been solved so easily.
Whichever way you look at it, for some factions; getting a double bribe can be exceedingly difficult. Is this a members fault or simply just a limitation of the game mechanics?
I'd like to see more new people stick around and play discovery. :)

Except that he *hadn't* tried it already. People told him exactly what he'd done wrong and what to do differently, but he ignored them.

You two really need to read the entire thread. You'll notice people were being supportive and helpful. Up until the point everyone began to notice he wasn't reading anyone's post, including an admins. He then began to insult everyone who had offered him help. He repeatedly ignored advice. Repeatedly.
I'm sorry, but we're better off without community members with his attitude. If Disco is dying (which I don't think it is), adding a cancer in the form of members who have know-it-all attitudes will only hasten the death; as they will run off members who make the place better.
