I was having a boring night thinking about past games I really enjoyed when I ran into the idea of kicking up freelancer again. I installed it, put up the TNG mod (I know, kill me) and somehow didn't find a single server. I went out on the internet and googled a bit and found out that Discovery is the way to go. I downloaded it, I checked around on the forums, I read the rules and just when I felt I was ready to kick the game up I still didn't find a server. I was using the corrent link, I was trying everything. I once again went back to the forums and saw that the server went down about 5 minutes before I tried logging in. Bummer!
Well, nothing bad that don't have a touch of good. In this case that's just plain wrong though. I waited, I waited and I waited some more. In the end I almost fell asleep, then suddenly there was light at the end of the tunnel. THE SERVER WAS BACK UP!
I created a character, I played for a few minutes then realized I was just too tired and went to bed.
Anyhow, what I wanted to get to was that I'm new here and I'd like to introduce myself briefly. I'm 22 years old, I'm from Sweden (hence my disastrous english), and I've been playing all sorts of games for the last oh god knows how many years. Even though I think of myself as pretty well versed in the terms of roleplay I'm bound to make a mistake or two, seeing as I'm not all that familiar with the Freelancer or Discovery Mod background or history. Nor am I used to playing RP games in space at all. Well, I'm not used to playing RP games with graphics basically.
To conclude, I'd like to say hello to each and every one of you and ask that if you see me, you shoot me atleast once (if you kill my shield, don't shoot more) to say hi. Other than that I'm more than happy to recieve any hints and tips that you might have. For instance, what would be something good to do in the beginning and maybe some bad examples too.
Yes, I've read the rules, and re-read them and then I read them once more just to be certain.
Right now I'm busy trying to survive against the level 4 missions in new york though. I don't remember this game being this difficult (hell, one of them could power down my shields completely in just a few hits and there were five of them!). I like it though. It's fun when there's some challenge in it.

Welcome! Enjoy yourself, read the rules, now, go read them, seriously. Once more never hurt anyone...
If they haven't already (and the usual suspects have not) there should be some fellas knocking on the door to offer you useful links and strange offers of employment, click the links, ignore the plugs, unless they are for Zapp's stories. The only faction you'll ever need to join is the Democratic Peoples Of Liberty. If that doesn't float your boat, however there's a couple of other links in my sig.
Saint Del is considered a holy healer of diseases of children, but also as a protector of cattle.
Your English is very good, better than many native speakers, actually.
Some advice for a beginner such as yourself to get yourself into the ships which makes this mod, well, a mod, would be to do one of the following;
a) Mine silver in Colorado, purchasing larger ships for mining as you go, until you can afford a decent trade vessel.
b) Join a faction which offers to outfit beginners. QCRF, representing the Bretonian Armed Forces, are very open to new players, as are the Brotherhood, representing Corsairs, as well as several others.
Flying in factions greatly enhances roleplaying, in my opinion, plus, flying in a squadron is so fun!
