You would have to be a veeeerrry rich Merc to afford a Battleship. The possibilies are there for an RP story linked to a merc aquiring a Battleship, but this is highly unlikely concept due to the money that a mercenary typically earns for escorting, assassinating, etc.
Of course, the ID itself restricts this by only allowing up to gunboat class. :P

Here, try this in "real life":
-Go to a local naval base (wherever you live, there's sure to be one in your country)
-Tell the head honcho "hey, i want to buy myself a cruiser/battleship/carrier, how much for it?"
The guy will either arrest you or tell you to piss off, unless it's russia or something...
The big ships are reserved for the authorities and larger groups who can afford to build them. "Nuetrals" dont get free access to capships for a good reason.
Now i will use extreme force when I get a contract on you.

My fellow friend if your a lawful mercenary then every unlawful faction will hate you.

Gonna start anew...
quiet honestly the terms "lawful merc" and "unlawful merc" wanna make me laugh...there is no such thing really...
A merc holds allengence to the highest payer.. ones without honor do any way...they are not affilated with one side or the other..they just wanna make some green and just because they get more lawfulls or pirates to hire them doesnt make them allied to one side or the other. People have a general understanding that a merc can serve both sides and most likely take that into consideration before they actually hire one...
..just my whole 2 cents.. the unlawful/lawful merc thing was gettin under my skin is all heh...
although one that helps lawful more so the pirates would find themselves more disliked by pirates to be sure... but that is why such said merc should avoid such a position by evening the sides he helps out.

I've mentioned this several times on these forums, but I think that that's just not true. If a merc did that, then who would ever hire them afterwards? A merc's reputation is key! If he's known for deserting his employer, NO ONE WILL HIRE HIM. Only way he's gonna stab his employer in the back is if things get REALLY tough (i.e. hopelessly outnumbered, surrounded, and death is imminent), or if he's offered an amount of money so large that he can retire on it.
