Would there be a problem running slightly different versions of Discovery on the same server?
Every version of Discovery would be basically the same, just with slight tweaks for each faction.
Items like contraband list could be customised, where and what ships or weapons are available to each faction?
Yes the system would be hard to police especially with players with multiply characters, so the system would possibly need to be voluntary, at least at the start.
It doesn't require any "different" versions. All it takes is about five minutes of .ini modding.

Treewyrm Wrote:all in all the conclusion is that disco doesn't need antagonist factions, it doesn't need phantoms, it doesn't need nomads, it doesn't need coalition and it doesn't need many other things, no AIs, the game is hijacked by morons to confuse the game with their dickwaving generic competition games mixed up with troll-of-the-day.
Plus many other changes to the INI files will cause you to be kicked and/or auto banned. Server can be nasty.
Also editing contraband is a bad idea since it will affect NPCs which will most likely get you kicked.
I'd say don't use any form of edited Discovery files on the official server. Really are just asking for trouble, in terms of game mechanics and admins:P

:( It was just an idea to allow players RP a little better thats all
Oh don't mean it in a bad way, just advising against it is all. Problem is that the server is universal for all players and it would effectively render cheat detection useless. If everyone was using different versions of the mod, how can you check for cheating?
