But, I think that the light fighter (using this new model) should have manuverability reduced, and power supply / armor / shielding increased to make it more powerful. There isnt a need for new hardpoints, but the current class 9 hardpoints should be changed to class 10 hardpoints to allow the ship to use nomad blasters and energy cannons. A heavy fighter or VHF shield would be good too, if it's manuverability is being reduced.
I also think the ship should be sold in both alaska and omicron minor or omicron 100, to show it's development by both the LSF/navy and the order, the infocard can be changed to relate such as well.
One thing to be careful about stats is that such ships can be easily misused, i.e. player assumes that the ship alone grants unrestrained "terrorist" freedom, which isn't true, and was explained numerous times before. But rarely I do encounter such delusional individuals who don't pay attention these important things, and sadly had to take measures against such behavior. Hence the current stats of public nomad light fighter were made so. The whole thing is quite complicated but currently balanced, shifting balance will lead to many issues. I like the design but I'm worried as to consequences it might have depending on the in-game implementation.
i m not going to replace a ship that isn t broken or part of freelancer. - so its a no go for the nomad light fighter ( i m simply not fond of replacing vanilla [ or in that case semi vanilla ] ships )
about the planned nomad events / happenings - hard to model something that doesn t clash with it when no information is revealed of course. - but if you say it would hurt the overall story, this project is cancelled.
the idea was directly aimed at a RP variant of the marsflyer as an experimental ship using an entrapped nomad LF/bomber. the marsflyer in its current state is useless, or worse - a joke. as a direct replace it wields some promising stats though ( it has a unique sound and engine effect that would not have to be changed for another unique ship that is more FLish )
i am aware that igiss doesn t like introducing more SHFs - for a good reason, as they are hard to balance - and either rubbish or too powerful, but the existing ones cannot be removed ( only moved to a remove base )
a ship that is directly related to the order - especially with such a delicate setup as a trapped nomad would be much more under faction control than the current marsflyer. the Bs| can hardly restrict its use... its not an order ship.
I think it'll have good RP value as static or wreck. Or perhaps even NPC ship, think about it. I'm currently working on some NPC-only ships for let's say special purposes, so why not this one? Like a rare encounter of sorts but it could work out.
Marsflyer is an odd one, never seen any successful attempt at roleplaying it, and I doubt there is any (not comical at least). Easter egg. :-)
I never understood why the Marsflyer was included, and if it needs a replacement then I would vote for your Light Carrier, but if it's getting added at one of those shipyards, then I would like to see this ship.
But I think it might be hard to RP in it too
Well... it looks awesome and I really like the exotic concept. Now since I am all for replacements, I'd say replace it, and lock it away somewhere in the order guard system.
But then again. Such a ship as the only wreck that drops nomad canons in a radiated cloud of gas pockets would help to give some (not alaska-) system a unique touch and us something to actually "discover".
Damn tough decision =/
Edit: Er ... damn ... if this thing would belong to liberty, there will definitely be war with rheinland and other houses.
This could be an addition for the Order as an expeditionary science vessel or some sort of advanced survey drone. Looking forward to how it will progress through.
