Just a thought but have you thought of asking if we want the ships remoddeling? We only have 2 BS's its not like were spamming un canonness left and right. Most of them are indy's. The most simple option would be to lock the BS's so you need admin assistance. I doubt CR will want another.
By the way did anyone think of just retexturing the current viper. In a couple of hours in paint i was able to get this.
I also removed all BSG symbols from the ship during the retexturing. I could do more but i wanted to see what you guys think first. In my opinion that's pretty much all that's needed on the ship. You could go further with a retexture and remove the stripes ect. No offence to xing's modelling abilities but it lacks the sleekness of a viper. Its become a bit too fat to be a viper in my opinion, as vipers went along longer they got sleeker so a Viper mk VIII (thats mk 8) would be thinner and more sleek than a mk II. As the mk VII was longer but more sleeker suiting an interceptor role
If i saw a non-canon deign i thought would work as a viper i would say i'd fly it but as i have said before this is more like a light bomber to me than a VHF. And goes against colonial philosophy which has always been for the lighter ship than the heavier.
I exactly removed the sleekness of current viper in order to give it the more blocky feel of general freelancer ships.
As well, it is an effort to regroup all IMG ships under one same design standard.
As to the battlestar, as I said, I am not sure yet of the design.
But to general opinion, the answer to all import is replacement. And I am doing exactly that. A mere reskin of an existing model is not much for me. It's still a "Battlestar Viper mk II" camouflaged, while the new models are based upon my code of Freelancer design: blocky, and in this case, blocky curves bretonian style, coupled with a somewhat borderworld like cockpit.
To the end, it is Igiss deciding if these ships will be implemented or not.
I like most aspects of the new spatial design, but that nose has to go for sure. Also, would it be possible to reduce the overall size of the ship? to something like a broad bomber rather than the pseudo-GB bulk it is currently. I kinda like the idea of a sidewing but I do think it needs to be a bit smaller, cos it the moment its just a big bulls-eye.
Definitely a good start, but some things do not work for me. Few model changes (Engines more into the hull, cosmetical things) and heavy texture ones (what makes viper a viper are the textures, far more, than the model.)
