With a 1920x1200 solution (which is the native solution of my display) the graphics going down when i stay near Manhattan, Planet and Newark station on monitor.
I have to kill the vertical syncronisation, otherwise i have only 5-10 frames per sec. But that isnt the best, too, so i need to know, if someone use that solution too, what better card i need.
1) FL does not support such a high res from original options.
2) Bare in mind FL is several years older than your graphics card so using feature FL was never knew about may not be in your best interest.
3) the native Resolution of your monitor vrs what your card puts out are 2 different things. If you mach your cards output to the monitors native yes it will LOOK better. But if the program running does not go to a larger resolution it makes no difference.
with thes in mind, at the time of FL's release the ATI 9800 pro and the Nvidia 6800 GT were dukeing it out pretty good at the time. Ancient tech compared to what we have today, but see what the difference is between the 6800 and the 8400 and turn off all extra features you dont need on your vid card.
getting a Bigger, Better, Badder vid card will most likely not fix old programs, but will look good when New programs come out.
(Side note, I have been running a 6800 OC version card since FL came out. Worst case I had was 5fps but that was due to connection of a server not the programs. I had AA turned off. Had max res on the card to match monitor native, and all extra fancy features turned off. after many years of tinkering on FL, still looks good.)
Anything along the line 8600GT an up can handle the FL in those resolution well. But why waste the money on nothing. Pay a little extra and get Ati 4850 and you can play modern games also. It costs about 120 dollars so not bad. For those resolutions it would be even better to go 4870, but that costs around 200.
