So the answer is to make ships that some have red and some do not.
And use the red ones to do the deed.

I see...

Though that is so much work for such a little thing. Why would I have to go around this just to get at it but from a different angle.

i think the reason is that the bases wouldn't shoot at you or would allow you to dock after you just killed the guy... but... Dunno. What if you just CD the base and continue?
I suppose however there cannot be a trust factor to it.

If you're looking for ways to keep a nicely neutral repsheet while bounty hunting, please just....don't.

Freelancers (and AFC) have very open repsheets, but if they want to start bounty hunting they will make enemies.
That is balance both inrp and oorp. You can go all zonerzonerzoner and get green with everyone, but then you can't go around blasting.

karst you fail to understand that AFC doesnt have and has not been green with everyone.
We so far have at least 6 factions rephacked either -9 or -8.

What is stupid however is when we would escort IMG but then JM could show up. What then? Can an AFC vessel still claim the target?

the Jm have been aggressive from the start. honestly it is just inRP defense and showing we are not someone to be messed with.

With a difficult diplo like the Junkers Congress and the JM having 2 opposite sides to us, it is rather difficult to do anything while being perfectly on one side of the rules.

on a side note I am sure there are other examples out there that show the same thing.
DHC posting bounties for zoner whales
IMG's stance with junkers as it is
Edit: A junker bounty hunting a freelancer while the freelancer is neutral. Nothing about that is wrong too?

maybe i can find more.

The rule is just blocking more complicated issues that should be black and white.

1.) From what I've been able to piece together over the years ...

For the rules of combat engagement and IDs, the F8 menu IFF description for factions is what to use. Allies and enemies there are your closest buddies and biggest rivals.

For the rules of bounty hunting, the above is employed, as is the green/white/red reps on your screens.

Personally, as a storyline developer, I've found this to be a little lacking. However, it makes the rules easier to streamline, plus (and here's the big one) everyone is allowed to roleplay as they wish, so the difference between "positive neutral" "friendly" etc. is small enough where enforcement of such would become tricky. That's why only the allies and enemies are set in stone on F8.

The following list is what I use (and I actually got King Boo to add it to that post), but as you can see it would be clunky to list all nine reputation levels in the rules and in-game.
(12-21-2015, 09:47 PM)King Boo Wrote: For uniformity, please use this list to describe diplomatic relations. Post with both name and number
Allied +.9
Allied +.7
Friendly +.55
Cordial +.3
Neutral 0.0
Suspicious -.3
Unfriendly -.55
Hostile -.7
Belligerent -.9

2.) I have no idea, honestly.

3.) I remember the Reavers getting nailed a while back (whole faction Bastilled, iirc) for blanket hunting ships that were white on sensors. So better rep up if you're hunting ...

The reason that it's a problem is that unless you're between -.55 and -.6, white means you can dock on the base of the person you just killed, which is messed up. Hey, you just saw me blow up your pilot Steve here, now let me land! Such would be easily abused, and for all I know probably is already.

PS: my personal 2¢ on these rules as a user, not as an Administrator (I'm not one anyway), Moderator, or Developer, though I used some dev insight here

You were hired to escort.
That means that you are allowed to engage targets that want to harm the convoy/hiring party.
You can also claim them on e.g. the IMG board. You were hired.
You do not even have to be red to them in this escorting case, as you were hired ingame, not via blanket bounty. For cleanliness however, it may be useful to do the payments ingame and not have white target forum screenies floating around.

Quote:the Jm have been aggressive from the start. honestly it is just inRP defense and showing we are not someone to be messed with.

Request them to be made red to your ID. (IMG did the same. We were initially good with Junkers, but when JM| got their own ID, we agreed to make each other red)

When red, attack them for bounty.

I do not see a problem there, rulewise.
Hit the one group.
Do not hit the other group.
If they want to protect each other irply, that's ofc possible, but that's in roleplay and not a rule problem.
