[Captain's Log - Date: November 7th, 823 A.S.] [Commander Matthew Hemlock]
Well, it's almost time. The Bay's finally getting the finishing touches tuned with her transponder, and should hopefully be fit for service soon. I flew back this morning after getting the news too, just to see what's changed. Nothing has on the inside, but the ship's transponder wasn't reading 'Navy' anymore, so that's something.
The memorial is still there. Millianne told me she's done well in Chase's absence, and that baby Chase is growing well. No doubt I just lost one of my nurses, but I'm more than happy to accept it rather than force her to keep her son on what will be a frontline warship. It just wouldn't be humane.
Cathy actually seemed happy to see me this time. I know she was just mad about the change in occupation, but in the end we'll still be serving Liberty, kust from a far distance, and less so against the Gauls. Not sure what protocol will be on them with our return. I don't even think the Order considers them enemies, a lot like the rest of their views on the houses.
But, I'm gonna go celebrate with Cathy. The Bay's return to service will be well worth the numbed head in the morning, and Cathy's going to tell me more about her experience dealing with the guys on Sicca. I think she's really excited for this.

That's it, then. I'm done. No more waiting around for 'Grand Admiral Whats-his-nuts' and company to fix the damned thing. We're out, and we're taking her with us.
I don't care how dramatic it sounds, or that it took half a god damned year to reach this point, but I'm not waiting any more. I've sat in this chair for over three years doing my best, watching and waiting for the sign of when to finally return to the fight, and I get back and they tell me to crack a book and to expect your family to hate you for it.
[Silence....]
I'm just so done with people telling me that I can't think straight, that I'm just doing things because I want to. First that prick from Delta, then the entire chain of command. I try, but everyone perceives it as stupidity, and for that I'm out.
We're heading for the lower Omicrons and maybe even to the Omegas. I'm going to try and avoid Liberty, but knowing how this whole damned sector works, I'll be dragged back there and everyone'll hate me for it.
We'll see how this all goes down, though. Once Cathy gets finished fixing our transponder, we'll be ready.
I respect the whole gang, but having to wait for that long just so nothing could happen is complete trash. We'll see how this new future goes along.

Well, this is it then.. retirement.. Honestly, I didn't think it'd end like this, but given how things are, I guess it was going to come to this eventually.
I've still got a few loose ends to cut off, including Knight and the rest of the Harmony runaways. I guess I'll try and see about getting a meeting set up, but with how things are now, and Ferguson's control of the Third, I definitely won't be getting back on the Bay easily..
I've also got Alex to deal with, and that one robo-lady who wanted to talk crap. I guess I'll try to cut em' of asap, but anything's possible these days.
What I do know is that that new guy, Hutchins, is not staying in command for long..
