Its easy to say 20mil is cheap when you have big cargo trader ... i have one too its not problem to me i can make that money in matter of minutes ...
but what with those guys who are starting ... they cant go to Alpha Gamma and Delta to shoot destroyers with fighter without armor ....
man those missions there are hard for single fighter ... you need one destroyer at least if you want to make 1mil per mission ...
armor should be cheap as scrap metal ... or something ... its only armor upgrade add some metal panels around and enjoy ... capital ships are bigger and need more upgrade but damn you buy battleship then you need to pay more for cap upgrade mk8 then bs ... its funny
and then if you make fighters more expensive then ... poor newbies who start after that ...
Armor upgrades should stay ... but make it cheaper only ... everyone have one ... and everyone will get one in time but why they need to be so damn expensive
' Wrote:It is quite possible to finance upgrade from missions as well, including loot it's quite normal to get 1 mil per mission in Alpha, Gamma, Delta and similar systems. So that's 15 missions.
Try 25-30. Many of those missions have capital ships, and you'll need to either get some help (cutting the income) or run and get a different one and hope that one won't have caps.
' Wrote:Yes, it's a pretty short time if you have a cargo ship that costs 60 million? I'd actually like to build chars on their own, but I'm not either:
Doing missions for the rest of my life
or
Trading my way up to big cargo ship only to then get the cash in an hour and have to sell the thing - every enterprising pilot has to trade these days?
Seems to me like the general consensus is 'get a big cargo ship and you'll be fine'.. no wonder we have powertraders with an attitude like that.
Indeed, although I would suggest keeping that char with the big transport ship permamently as a money maker, it is the usual drill.
Forcing players to play a character they didn't want to, just to be able to set up their charaters, just add some "4 mill or Boom boom" pirates and you have the recipe for silent powertraders.
I spent my first month on the server with trading my way up from the starflea to a transport with a respectable hold size, and it is far from enjoyable.
In my opinion armor upgrades upset the balance (it makes hull differences between ships 2,5 times bigger) and promote powertrading. And don't come with the it is a must for fighters and bombers against caps as their biggest defense against them is their agility and not their hull.
Right, I have 4 Lane Hacker characters, neither of them ever got a single credit from any trader of mine, but got everything from pirating other players. From LF to bomber.
It was the most exiting time ever, really having to work for your money.
Point was that you asked about and easy way, I mentioned one. There are many ways that are not so easy and can give you a lot of money as well. One of the easiest is cargo pirating of NPCs.
