edit: but people would come and argue that this is not a valid argument. so lets replace oxygen with any other common commodity that other bases buy too, not only pacifica. lets say im hauling industrial hardware to the base - will then libgov ban this commodity because hey maybe theyre using it on an unlawful base for reparations?

Update on the state of affairs in the Independent Worlds;
Due to a large increase in security threats reported by the LSF, the Republic has made an executive decision to close all traffic to the Bering sector for an indefinite period. No traffic may pass into or through Bering without prior authorization from a ranking member of the Primary Liberty Forces ([LN], 5th|, =LSF=, LPI-). Those that are found breaking this cordon within the Libertonian-patrolled section of Bering will be considered tresspassers of a restricted zone under Section Three, Article Four of the Laws of the Republic of Liberty, and prosecuted as such. Cross-border traffic through the Hudson system remains unaffected.
In addition, we have identified a large spike in the trade of refurbished electronics and related material through the Bering embargo, apparently in aid of criminal elements to Liberty. Until we can further investigate the nature of this trade and the specific legality of different components, origins, destinations, etc., all "Refurbished Electronics" shipments are hereby grounded. Ships found carrying the cargo within the House of Liberty may suffer punishments from fines to forced ship impound as per Section One, Article One of the Laws of the Republic of Liberty.
- Boris Livingstone, Secretary of State for Internal Affairs
Bering embargo is now 11 month old. No commodity can go through.
yes but refurbished electronics are banned in all of liberty. will libgov ban industrial hardware in all of liberty if they see me hauling it to pacifica?
**before anyone tell me this is not on point - it is. the ban in bering was based on recent developments including the addition of the event commodity to the liberty contraband list

If you want to do something about it, make a Unioner and join the fight. If people spent as much time as they did on the forums helping fight the blockade, the blockade wouldn't exist.

When a newly introduced cargo is only used to repair criminal base, it gets banned. Same as last time when Harmony needed supplies. This is not the first time that cargo is being outlawed during events. Most likely not the last time either.
so your irp reason is the fact that [commodity] suddenly appeared in the world and has one of its uses in repairing an unlawful base?
you dont know where else the commodity can be used - its a very generic item. you only know that someone was transporting it to a damaged base and you supposed that its being used to repair it. it couldhave been delivered to the base on a daily basis prior to the NEMP, but you dont know that because you dont know everything. you just dont.
but get back to my point - lets say we werent using the current commodity to repair it. lets say we used an already existing commodity that is used all over sirius for various reasons; would libgov ban that commodity just because they saw a transport hauling it to an unlawful base in need of repairs?

Banning it on the basis of it being an event commodity sounds ooRP. In the past the commodities have been much more specific as to their nature (Deutrium, DROPs etc etc), I'd also add that actually in those cases, the Staff themselves amend the event description to say x factions can treat that item as contraband.
