To:Royal Government of Bretonia
From: Direktorin Valentina von Thielau
Location: Trägerschiff Bad Nauheim, Neu Berlin System
Subject:Relations

Guten Tag sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,

I am Valentina von Thielau, member of the Krüger Board of Directors. I am contacting you due to the frozen relationships between our company and your house. It has been some time, since one of us contacted Bretonia. That’s why I want to make the first step. I haven’t seen our Krüger ships flying to Bretonia for a while. Improving our relationships again would benefit both of us. The value for certain goods on in- and export to Bretonia are rising.
Let us join to have a talk to benefit us all!
Thanks for your time, ladies and gentlemen.

Mit freundlichen grüßen,
Erzbetriebsdirektorin, Valentina von Thielau

Krüger Direktion

Dear Direktorin Valentina von Thielau,

Greetings from the Bretonian government. My name is Benedict Callahan, and I serve as Secretary to the Cabinet. I will handle this communication unless otherwise directed.

The relationship between Bretonia and Rheinland has remained stable in recent memory, and while our mining corporations seem to enjoy causing trouble for one another, the Bretonian government at this time sees no immediate areas of conflict. As such we are happy to restore contact with your corporation and engage you with any discussions you desire to have. Naturally, our joint area of concern is likely the Omega cluster.

If you wish to discuss a joint business venture with our crown corporations, or gain access to a Bretonian market of any type, I am open to your overtures.

Best regards,
Benedict Callahan, Secretary to the Cabinet

Dear Direktorin Valentina von Thielau,

Following our communication, I had the pleasure of speaking to you in private where we exchanged ideas. For documentation purposes I will list what we spoke of below, and try to expand on them. I am welcome to another private channel call if needed.

1. Kruger wishes to engage in mining in Omega-3, specifically Cobalt mining, and gain access to BMM bases.
2. Bretonia, owner of all the resources found within Omega-3, is open to the discussion, but being that resources are rightfully claimed by Bretonia, something must be provided in return.
3. Bretonia requested a reciprocal agreement, where Bretonian mining corporations are given access to the Silver deposits found within Omega-7.
4. Kruger was however not receptive to such a proposal, feeling Silver mining is adequately covered already, and unwilling to allow another player to the market, even if that player is friendly.
5. There was an offer for access (no mention of discount or preferential treatment) to the Silver stores mined by Kruger.

Above is as far as we got in our private call.

Essentially the position of Bretonia is that, without suitable compensation, allowing a non-Bretonian mining corporation to mine on its territory is out of the question. The solution of allowing Bretonian corporations to mine Silver in Kruger controlled fields seemed logical, and a quota could be established so both sides only mine an equal amount, but this seems to be a sticking point for Kruger?

Perhaps then, a different plan may be worked. Instead of allowing us to mine Silver, I would suggest the compromise that Silver mined by Kruger be provided to Bretonia without charge or fee, gratis. An equal amount of Cobalt may be mined by Kruger from Omega-3 in return. Only this way, can Bretonia be assured we are not short changed. It may seem unfavorable that Silver must be provided in equal measure to Cobalt, but access to a lucrative new mining field, and the job creation potential within, are considerable, and would increase the value of Kruger as a whole.

Best regards,
Benedict Callahan, Secretary to the Cabinet
