"Can you stop doing that?" he asked with mild annoyance, facing the aether above him, with a keen look in his eye as if he were actually addressing someone.

"Oh, so you pretend you're not there?" he spoke again, his words echoing into the clear air. One could think that such erratic behaviour could be a sign of some psychological problems the stranger struggled with.

"Gods!" he exclaimed, sighed deeply and made a grimace. Then relaxed and lowered his head in defeat.

He straightened and finally addressed the Discovery Gaming Community:

"Please allow me to introduce myself, and for the love of all the Gods above and below, ignore the narrator.

I'm Archaetherial and while I'm certainly not a man of wealth, I'm definitely a man of taste. I'm also new here.

Admittedly, I have been lurking in the dark for some time, browsing the forums as a guest and reading up on all the shenanigans that have been transpiring here before my prophecised arrival. But, the time has come to finally come out from the shadows and reveal myself to you and so I've allowed myself to commit this introductory thread.

I have a very broad spectrum of interests, and you can talk to me about anything. Most of all I'm into astrology, poetry, literature, languages, history, biology, fountain pens and writing. But there are no topics that are off-limits for me. And I absolutely love to converse and learn new things.

All in all, I'm a talkative, curious and friendly being and I certainly hope I can find a place for myself here, somewhere. I don't take up much space. Just a cosy corner somewhere, or a top of some ancient, broken tower, if you please. I'm adaptable.

As for what brought me here and how I found this place. Well, since I'm retired for a couple of years now, I've got quite a lot of time on my hands. Thus, I've decided to try something new and play computer games. It's very exotic territory for me as my technological prowess is undeniably pathetic, but I set on a course to explore this unknown field anyway. From among those (games), I've acquainted myself with - Freelancer is among my absolute favourites. I'm amazed by the graphics, and the effects and the huge game-world that you can explore. Yes, the story might be a bit cliché, but it's certainly entertaining.

And so, I completed the campaign and did a lot of flying, fighting, trading and exploration. Then, thanks to a completely random idea related to another game, I checked ModDB and lo and behold this magnificent modification revealed myself to me.

I greatly admire people who've put so much of their time, skills and efforts into the creation and continued functioning of this game, mod and community. I'm impressed by the enormous amount of new content that was added to the original game.

Right now, the only character I have is a lone Sunburst pilot, trying to make a living by mining and selling helium in Pennsylvania. But, I hope I will be able to do much more, all in good time. By the way, ships and equipment and everything... they're daaaamn expensive. How do you even get so much credits?

I'd also like to eventually engage in faction stuff and some forum roleplay and communications and all that. But, I'm taking it slow right now, step by step.

I think you're excellently set to succeed. If you have the basis of roleplay down and enjoyment of the Freelancer universe, the technological prowess will come with time.

Enjoy being poor of credits; it's less fun when you're swimming in them.

The Wiki is outdated and unreliable, but this is a good starting point for understanding a lot of the special tools that have been developed over the years. Don't forget to check out the tutorials section of the forums, which have a tonne more information. Good luck!

PS: Some of us never got good at PvP but if you can be sneaky and evasive or pay good company, it won't stop you.
