What about the Trinidad y Tobago Sleeper Ship...

The coalition sleeper ship is not a very logic idea, but in the time of the solar war the coalition could build some long range explorer ships, to explore near star systems and some of them may be lost in space and the crew meet an horrible dead. But Some ship could found some Alien JG or JH and some habitable planet and start a small colony very far from sol or sirius. The time passed the small colony grow but the grow wasnt enough to expand to the stars or develop high tech, so they start using clonation tecnology to grow up the pop number (this may be a cool idea, imagine a Lot of commie clones). The started to explored the space, colonizing at exponential Rate, making a huge empire in fabulous time, the principal production of this Civilization is people. and some day lik AS 820 or 825 they found their way to sirius... to be continue... (not from me but somebody could)

I'm just annoyed there were no Canadians aboard the Liberty.

Why am I so sure? There's no Tim Hortons to be found in Discovery.

I think there were Canadians on the Liberty, but lost the ties to their own history and culture, over time.

"After the Discovery of Ontario parts of the population which originally came from Canada, started to study their roots again. Some people got angry about the long practiced ignorance towards them and now raise demands on Liberty."

I'd like to see a Canadian Liberation Front, I admit it, but that's one of the most logical explainatons to me.

My character Isabelle Kaitlyn is of french Canadian heritage.
So is much of the personnel in the regiment she commands. The 22nd was at the origin a branch of the Libertonian military to unite the minority serving in the Liberty military under one same banner.
Much like what we did with the natives and the canadian rangers.

RP is the only limitation you set, and its boundaries are realism and fairplay.

I live in eastern europe, I voted no. Let go off the past. Sure, it wasn't pretty, but who needs the drama? Things were, how they were. We got occupied, oppressed, but still worked for the regime.

Oh, my explanation for the coalition sleeper ships.

The book of the Coalition

Humanity was winning its war against itself.
No, Im not that much exaggerating by the end of our never ending conflict, our army numbered in the billions. We were tired everyone was, on both side. But we were confident, the war was soon over.

We, the new leaders of humanity would finally be able to govern ourselves by the plans set by the grand fathers of our grand fathers we promised the people, equality, justice, peace. We wanted to rebuild the human civilisation to its full glory.

Victory was ahead!
But even so close to our goal, we didnt let euphoria take over our soul. For a few more days, maybe a few more months, we had to remain the vigilant, unforgiving soldiers we were trained to be since our childhood.

I wasnt too surprised when I received the first few reports on the Alliance colony ship projects. Desperate measures to save the ending of a conflict that has lasted too long

It would be very hard to counter this final plan, I agreed. It was desperate, tragic, but brilliant.

Our final target was the small planetoid of Pluto, the last bastion of the Alliance. 8 great sleeper ships, mammoth vessels holding the remnants of a broken civilisation. We tried to destroy them through sabotage; we never knew what happened of our brave spies. There was no time, by the time our grand fleets regrouped and reached Pluto a long, exhausting journey, the Alliance was ready to launch.

Suddenly, we became desperate as well. These sleeper ships were heavily armoured. Even the best estimations made by our military strategists estimated at least half would be able to break through our hastily set blockade.

I admit, our job wasnt as handsome as that of the Alliance. But, as always, time was a mighty enemy In no time, two of our carriers were retrofitted with immense hyperspace technology drives and cryopods. True, the hyperdrives werent something we were very certain about. It was mainly a technology weve learnt from our enemies. As such, I had doubts if they would work at all.

These two vessels were to track down the Alliance wherever they went to, report back to Sol, and terminate the remnants if possible. The mission sounded harsh, to completely crush, terminate an already defeated opponent but as with vermins, if you left them alone, they would rebuild and come back haunt you or, your grand children. No, we couldnt have that, for the sake of the world we wanted to build!
No more bloodshed. This had to be the war, that ended all wars.

Looking back to our origins, we christened the two mighty ships the Volgograd and the Jiangxi. Smaller than the Alliance vessels, they were however armoured and armed very decently we believed, much better than the sleeper ships.

I recall
The final days of the Alliance neared. The 8 ships launched or rather, only 5 managed to make it. As expected, we still managed to annihilated half of the fleeing forces, effectively destroying them on the ground through heavy planetary bombardment.

I grimly saw the four sleeper ships escape our fist now was the time for the Coalition hunters to enter in action, unfortunately.
We, thousands of volunteers aboard both Volgograd and Jiangxi, entered our long sleep, not knowing for how long exactly will we remain in stasis, unsure where will we land.

But we promised our motherland, a peace it deserved. We shall fight the last battle for humanity.

--

The trail of ionised fuel we were following suddenly dimmed, then nearly disappeared. It was the reason for which our board computers woke us up.
Fully two decades after the remnants of the Alliance established themselves down on Sirius. No, we had no chance of winning a quick battle anymore. We werent even sure where were they established precisely. We didnt have the capacities to check every single star systems of the galactic sector. Worse, we didnt know the way back home.

It didnt took us long to discover an exceptionally fertile solar system where we could establish. Two habitable planets were quickly found and colonised by each ships. We established down on Sirius, and attempted to initiate a link with Sol.

The link never managed to find Sol. According to it, Sol system didnt existed anymore.

--

In secrecy, weve grown. We became stronger, we became powerful. But we havent forgotten the ideals of our forefathers.

I'd like now to address the issue about Eastern Europe drama.
If we'd like to avoid drama, then I'd request we hereby immediately remove Kusari from Freelancer. Being a Chinese, my people have been slaughtered, tortured, by the millions.

Should we...?

It's just a darned game.
Heh, I'd also like to protest against Liberty. They have conspired against my people too, helping the nationalists because they were afraid of the communists. Also am I strongly disgusted by the representation of the american economic power represented through the libertonian corporations and the LPI...

Wait... it's part of the game' spirit...

This is a game where you have all the stereotypes, for the best or the worse, of all nations. Don't attach too much sentiment to a damned game.

I hold a hatred for Japan, definitively racist in some case. Yet, I played a KNF character.
I dislike Americans corporations taking over the markets. Yet, I have a Libertonian Army character...

I'm fairly certain none of the RM members are actual National Socialists, and would actually see the movement as wrong, and yet, they are playing a faction that imitates fascism openly.

And I'm sure the players playing as pirates really aren't Somalian pirates, but you know what? Yeah I think it's obvious by now.

Don't forget to remove Liberty, because of robbing the lands from the natives, Rheinland, because of the Nazis and Bretonia, for destroying foreign culture during colonial times.

Also ban the Outcasts, because they're suspicious Mafiosi, and the Mafia today kills people and the Corsairs, because today piracy is still practised.

And remove the Zoners, they appear as people from Switzerland, because their political neutrality appears as a crime.

---

The Starlancer story and the four Houses of FL are utterly overdrawn, there's nothing serious about it (at least it's my view). It must be satiristic to come up with a story as in Starlancer, cooking up the old 80's politics thrillers up into space.

Roleplay means to be someone else but not himself.
