have the battleships/etc. only hostile to the opposing faction, like......in liberty, they are only hostile to rheinland military and nothing else, and.....which im sure is possible.....dont have them attack like bases. Example: a player shoots newark, and it goes hostile to them. Next thing they know, they are getting shot from everywhere due to it. How bout make the bs's/etc not act like that. I think it would work tbh. I will load up my second install and play arouund with it to see if it would work how im describing....that is if ya'll know what i mean by it:blink:

To do that you would have to do two things

1. Make an entirely new faction.

2. Make it so it isn't allied to anything, however this to has drawbacks and side effects. ex, you are by rep, full green to the ships but red to a station it sits outside of, the ships start attacking the station (that they should be allied to) because they like you more than the station.

Bahahahha, I remember doing this once. It was the most fun ever to see Planet New Tokyo to suddenly open up on Roppoggi.

Anyway, I don't like this idea. The Westfalen is by the Hudson JG, and the Mississippi is by planet Houston. Works enough for me...

People who have militaries/police set to red would lose all access to gates, though.

Rashnok got it, but the rest of you, wow you guys really did take my post way to literal on fine detail. I mean unlawfuls in general would get raped by the sentry type Battleships at every gate/base/planet, it would seem traders would only have to run like 15k in any scenario(please don't take this as a specific literal detail) before getting the full protection of a battleship on their side.

I totally agree with Linkero in that you should make the battleships attack specifically rheinland lawfuls/unlawfuls with an exception for the traders if rep'd right.

The situation now is not looking like real war rather like cold war. You can travel trough war zone with no fear. Dreads are far from borders, no NPCs fighting, quiet and peace.

It should be like in Gallia. Every JG is occupied by dread, NPCs fighting there, it looks like real war.

And players unfriendly to JG and dreads should use jumpholes.

Lets not forget we're still in the early stages of this war. Neither side has made any ground in the conflict. Once Rhienland or Liberty push their front lines into enemy space, then we will see capital ships moved into defensve positions, such as we have in Bretonia. They have a battleship protecting LD-14 and Planet Leeds, and before 4.85 the battleship was protecting the JG before it was forced to withdraw.

but we need massive mobilisation like we've witnessed in Rheinland...! They had battleships at nearly every stations, tons of cruisers and gunships in perfect formation... now that, was a show of strength and a state of war.

Don't forget that Rheinland also practically mined up every last rock they owned (and a fair number they didn't) to build all that. Liberty isn't doing so hot in resource terms either, if you take a stroll through the asteroid field infocards it says "mined out" "mined out" "empty" "not viable for mining" etc... unless they plan to build ships out of ice, anyway. Rheinland also might be able to take home a beauty prize with a ship made entirely out of diamonds, but you get the idea. (Scratch that last one, Kyushu has both the diamond supplies to build a new planet and the style to make it pretty.)

Multiple heavy capital ships assigned to every base is no longer really feasible, I would say. Rheinland built and lost a very large number of ships, but Liberty invaded Kusari as well*... in addition to the three Dreadnoughts destroyed in your view during SP.

On the note of jumpgates becoming unusable, Leeds had a battleship parked outside the jumpgate for awhile and that didn't cause complaints. Also, look at Bremen. Actually, please don't, spare yourself and look at New Hampshire which is marginally better. There's a Liberty Dreadnought parked not 2k from the jumphole in from Bremen, and don't look yourself but there's a Rheinland Battleship on the other side roughly the same distance away. If that's what's to be expected of the battle lines, then there should definitely be battleships guarding the jumpgates (Westfalen and Mississippi could be moved up one of the tradelanes and have a new one at the other).

I like the idea, if it's done within reason. A BB at each of the easy invasion points (jumpgates and New Hampshire/Bremen), nothing else is really necessary.

*I kid you not. Mission 10, when you are going to extract Herr von Clausen, Lord Hakkera informs you that there's a change of plans because Rheinland now controls Honshu. The person escorting you from New Berlin to Holstein adds something to the effect of "With Liberty coming up through Galileo and Rheinland coming from the Sigmas, Kusari will get crushed in the middle." For whatever reason they don't explicitly mention it again (although the Nomad-controlled military coup in Liberty probably didn't help their ability to gather information), but it's there.

I'm pretty sure Rheinland didn't mine our the full walker(?) nebula yet, maybe they have to explore new systems, but there are still much more resources left than in liberty space (which always had less). And what about omega-7 (or was it 3? the one with the yellow nebula)? Is it also already mined out?
