What about Vanilla Freelancer? Same problem? What is your configuration?

Vanilla Freelancer, same thing. Configuration is exactly that, aforementioned sound card and a 2001 driver. >.>

Trying to update it now.

Well, seems like an updated driver did nothing to fix this... (or, whatever the latest driver was for my card, that I installed. Bah, I hate old equipment...)

Anyone got any ideas?

For those who are unclear what's this screen lag I'm talking about: it's like when you press PrintScreen. The screen stutters for a second before resuming. That's the same thing I'm experiencing whenever I activate afterburners, or fire a large group of weapons.

The game is loading something from your hard drive, I think. Maybe more RAM? If available? Or to reduce the distance drawn when activating mod? Less quality in game graphics? Maybe manually drop some processes before starting the game to free more RAM?

My RAM is 512mb, so I don't think it's lacking at all. Drawing distance has nothing to do with it, since I even tried it in single-player, and still the same thing. This doesn't happen when I turn off sound.

Even lowered my graphics settings to 800x600 16bit, and nothing's changed.

EDIT: Seems it might by my installation. I muted all sound from my desktop, and turned up the sound in the game, and the sound is not playing, but the lag is still there.

Re-installed again, and still no changes.

Then re-installed once more with my friend's copy of FL, and it's still the same problem. >.<
