I found out that apparently Freelancer wants to use the UDP ports 2300-2400 for playing online.
Now I just have to figure out if Vista has closed them, and if yes how to open them.
Else I'm out of ideas right now.

You may check port status by using a web-based port scanner that scans your machine for port status.
That way you get a report of the status of the ports of your computer.

Just a heads up to everyone that is currently running Microsoft Vista. I have been running it for sometime and have not had any problems with playing Freelancer until the latest mod was released. I was using the 4.82 mod and did not have any problems. I actually had less disconnect problems. The one problem I am having issues with is that the 4.83 mod will not install only complains of having a corrupt file "Common.DLL". I am currently attempting to uninstall and reinstall to see if this is a possible problem which was recommended by one of the admins - (greatly appreciated for the help). I am not sure what is stopping others from not connecting, but I might be able to answer some of the questions regarding the setup. I will say I dont believe that the problem is the mod itself since others are able to install and use the mod, this problem may be related to the mod and Vista in some way. I will update if I find an answer on this topic.
That is probably a corrupted download (happens to us all). I even got one where i couldnt extract it because the RAR file was not complete (missing the coding to indicate the end of an archive or somthing). Redownload, and that should stop this problem unless it is Vista related of course. I just go for the simpler option first:happy:
