Your can submit designs to the mod that may be added to your ship, read the mod discussion forum. Lots of info there. (If your going for some ship with your name on it, I suggest stopping now...)
I know you can change how a ship looks only to you, but, I don't know where you get one of those things, or how you'd use one, It also changes how all other people with that ship look to you.
To other people though, your ship would look exactly the same as before, so it only changes it at your computer..
amd you cant change the hitboxes... because that is cheating. so even if a ship looks really big on yours it should have the same hitbox as the version everyone else sees xD
sounds like a simple template copy but as you said everyone in the same ship will look like you... by changing the template you know you will probably have hitzones somewhere in the middle of nowhere... ex. if you change the template of an eagle by something round... you can still hit the wings, you just cant see them... dont think it would be wise... what you can do is copy the template like you have it.. then change that one and copy it back...
If you want the ship to look more or less the same but with different colours and stuff that would be a good option....
