Only thing I can think off for arrests is making an FL hook command.
When a player's ship is low on health ( say 15%) a police id-ed player can type /arrest <pirate name>
unless you are a very fast typer, a pirate who still has botts will regen before you can finish the command.
this command only works on pirate id-ed ships.
The pirate's ship is then beamed to Bastille or something for 4 hours. after that it gets beamed back to its last docking point.
I have no idea if something like this is even possible. but I think it would make being a cop more fun.
and cops in general will become more dangerous to pirates if they can throw you in the slammer.
This will also allow navy to call in cops for a reason. the navy disables (damages) a pirate's ship, and teh cops come to throw him in the slammer.
hell, like stoat says, this could even work for hunters and the lsf or something.

No apology necessary, I'm not really dense enough to have been offended.
Evidently some have, though, as they've dragged me to this realm.
Now, I just have a little something to say right now...
Well, firstly... you claim to be devoted to your faction's roleplay, yet you consistently show that you have some obsession with "purging" the Mollies from Dublin. I don't know if you don't know but I do know that I know and it seems you don't know either way about it all that the BPA never went into Dublin in Vanilla. Why is this? The Mollies were apparently a powerful and troublesome military group... and the BAF handled them because of this. I don't know if you don't know (again) that the BPA was never meant to take on a terrorist group in their fortified home system... that's not really within the police sphere of action, y'know. If you want to clean Mollies up, at least stay true to your supposedly deeply loved roleplay and make a BAF Dublin wing or something along those lines.
I know things are tough on you and the BPA, Incindre...
But don't have a whinge, in any case. Think of this as a... challenge. Yeh?

That's easy for you to say, seeing as you don't have to make the decisions. I'll be honest. Currently the only Police faction I believe will survive this official status activity warning is the LPI. I'm the leader of the RFP, so that really does hurt to say.
Incindre is just doing what should be done: offering as many possibilities as possible so the BPA gets some more members. Want to have some mindless pew pewing fun? Go to Dublin and give it to the pirates. Want to have a patrol around in the lanes and maybe meet a pirate to RP with? Patrol the rest of Bretonia.
There are just more possibilities being offered here so a larger crowd is attracted.
P.S. Cannon, that new unique power wouldn't happen to be a certain ability available to Police factions Dusty told me about a while ago. Something involving particular cargo perhaps, and the detection of which ships are carrying it...?
[17:45:39] Wolfs Ghost (Murphy): Tom, you have problems. Go kill yourself.
[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
[14:22:56] Prarabdh Thakur: KILL HIM WITH A SHEEP.
[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.
[11:32:18] Warspite: Thank you for being so awesome Tom. <3
[18:17:36] Metano: I love you tomtom
[20:06:24] Warspite: I will seriously give you epic head.

Well, you're right in a sense. The founding principles of the BPA aren't really possible anymore. The founder, Elgatodiablo, really did a great deal in his day to setup an example that the BPA was actually able to kick butt if it needed to (and you can ask Zelot, his Gunboat was destroyed by 4-5 Hussars a few times), but it just chose not to unless pushed. In a playerbase this large, you can't really impress that on everyone like you used to. It's your faction now, and regardless of whatever anyone else says, you make the choices in the end. No matter the chorus, if you think something is wrong, it's your faction and the decisions pertaining its fate are your decisions. You don't have to announce them to anyone.
But I'd just like to say that regardless of whatever choice you make, every aspect of a faction is always determined by its leader. If you want it to prosper, you have to set the example that playing the faction leader is not a chore, but a thoroughly fulfilling and fun experience, and people will, in turn, get online and catch onto your positive energy and spread it to the people around them. I failed to do that, and this is why the BPA and the AFA failed under me. It has very little to do with guns, honestly, but a lot more to do with you and the people you put in charge. At least that's the way I feel about it.
EDIT:

Actually this was a decision I made and it was made in compromise with the other Bretonians who wanted the BPA to go to Omega-3 (such a silly notion...). It was surmised that because the BAF were having such a hard time with the KNF, the BPA had to pick up more militaristic duties and "Domesticate" Dublin a little bit more. Though I never promised anyone I could come out to the Battleship Hood or any of the Mining Fields, the little area around Graves and the Independent Mining Field were kind of where we'd go. Roleplay is a living and evolving thing. Though I do fight silliness, not everything makes complete and total sense and it made a little bit of sense to me to take the Rocky Road to Dublin.
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.

I believe we have been down this road before and I have no wish to re-explain things for a fourth time, I will simply point at the "DISCOVERY 4.85" screen as we start up Freelancer, nod in the direction of the completely fractured and divided Mollys and motion towards the date difference between Vanilla and Now.
The Hussar is possibly the best light fighter, however they need to work in packs to be effective on anything other than a single bomber or Titan. Due to the decided lack of a pack the Paladin works better on the now inevitable solitary patrols. It's very easy to shoot being shaped somewhat like a ridiculously fat Tie Fighter but has bigger and more plentiful guns.
Thanks for signing up those who did! I'll make a big haul this coming weekend, see if I can get everyone completely set up etc.
