Sometimes I miss this too... a history for what happened after 801 in the houses, especially Rheinland and Kusari. What kind of governments, official stance on nomads, etc.

About the war ending...

Seems to me nomads are now stronger than ever, so they only lost one battle in the orriginal freelancer game, but all in all they are still winning.

The Nomad war is much like many wars in real life, for instance the Iraq War or the War in Afghanistan, hostilities officially ceased in 2003, but there are always endless skirmishes.
