there is a way to Freelancer 2: find at least 10 people, who know how to make a game; make an interesting game and convince someone to publish it; be a success; earn some money; show your ability; then ask Microsoft about source code and make for us Freelancer 2. you will earn money, and we will be happy about sequel.

I think in time it could be possible. Rehashing an old concept and improving on it seems to work in the market place. It may just take 10 or 15 years after the first release. Which what, it's been almost 10 years since the release of the original game and they were kicking the idea around. There is definetly a fan base for space simulation games. So it's possible, I hope they do.

we can but hope. Mr Roberts new game Star Citizen almost fits the bill but its not Freelancer.
