There is nothing wrong with the admin team removing protection on loans.
A system can easily be created with a little thought involved.
However I still do feel that any loans made before the date of their announcement should still have admin protection as the loans was created with admin protection in mind.
Any loans made after the date of announcement can be created with the new climate in mind.

An alternative way might be to sanction people for loan scams but not refund the money. This might provide a better risk/reward balance.
This is how it works in RL, IF somebody loan a cash from usurer/some person - he give or something value as a deposit, or "bill of exchange" - if He do not pay back in time, then usurer send a enforcer or bailiff to remind about payments and or take the money or some goods or just broke some bones.
And now back to FL, since it will be hard to create something like "bill of exchange" in game mechanics,
There is posibility to "send a enforcer" as bounty on loan holder (the bounty hunters will be enforcers and recive some % from loan payback) or by Schrödinger's Cat who will kill loan holder everyday until loan holder will payback.
Or option with 'deposit' - create some code, similar to movechar, witch is working like this:
- loan holder set "loan deposit" code of one of ships, this action block /movechar and /givecash options for this ship.
- creditor activates "loan deposit" code and set time cash refund
- when times up, creditor or deactivates "loan deposit" (if cash are bive back) or use /movechar code
until the end of the period time set in time cash refund, creditor cannot use /movechar for ship with is set as deposit
Delete the character who own some money = pernament ban becouse violation of 0.0
this is my proposal, hovewer I belive that option with "enforcers" is easier to make.

the idea of give money to "The Angels" is also nice - and easy to made.
I like the idea of putting a ship up as collateral for the loan. Maybe Cannon could create a way to make it so the ship can't be renamed or moved until the loan is paid back in full. If it isn't, the loaner can claim the ship that was put up as collateral.
Though this is asking Cannon to add more to his already full table of plates.

OPTIONS:
=======
1. Anything over a million gets trasferred to the party that loaned the money till he debt is paid off.
or
2. Some sort of game mechanic disruption like (no CTRL + V) till the debt is paid off.
or
3. PLayer shows spacial lights telling every one he is in Debt. Can not use /pimpship.
or
4. Ingame reminders that he is in debt.
You know, I don't think that the admins are going to put in some super-duper-overpowering loan scam preventor. Otherwise they wouldn't have made the announcement. Just do it yourself, and USE SOME COMMON SENSE. If someone can't pay you back its your own fault for trusting them.
A million dollars isn't cool. You know what is cool? A basilisk.
