You're right. Maybe for next version the Rogue gunboat can be renamed "pirate" gunboat since it looks like the "pirate" line. Either that or use Jinx's awesome BW/Zoner gunboat...
It would be nice to have several generic pirate vessels (fighter, bomber, gunboat) ... but you gotta understand ... you'd have to do the same with the Mercenary ID, Trader ID, Smuggler ID, Military ID, Freelancer ID and any other generic ID. Take a look at Rule 6.9 for clarification.
Quote:6.9 Generic IDs (Military ID, Freelancer ID, Pirate ID, Trader ID, Smuggler ID) indicate characters that did not join an NPC faction, but still maintain appropriate reputation with those factions, and appropriate faction tag, if any tag is available.
All rules that apply to ID types apply to generic IDs as well. Trader and Smuggler IDs are considered Trader IDs. All generic ID owners are not allowed to use cruisers and battleships.
Well, I'm not a pirat from long time but... I've heard of you. I personally don't mind (I admit I could open fire OS, but I'll stop quick) but, take care of some of my friends...
The one helping me to use this secured channel woudln't mint too, but, I say it again, some of my "colleagues" aren't as easy as me...
*OK mike, you can close the... IT'S STILL OPEN ?!... static....*

OK for gentle RP, OK for gentle PvP too. What do you prefer ?
Hurk hurk hurk...
[\JG/]Pim (mercenary, ex-IMG)(Raven's talon, New London and New Berlin mainly)
John Smith(independant trader, ex-contract killer on Manhattan)(Heavy Tanker)
Also keep in mind that if you're pirating anywhere, your reputation with the local lawful factions should reflect that you are an aggressive outlaw.
I'm seeing entirely too many pirates neutral to Liberty forces lately. Granted, these are also the ones who fit Eagles with Nomads and Cids and think "Yarr!" is adequate for RP.

A valid point ... that should be adhered to on BOTH sides. Don't just call pirates out on this ... I've seen my share of lawfuls hangin out near Yanagi, Buffalo, Rochester and such. I personally avoid house planets for the simple reason that I'll likely be destroyed.
For both pirates and non-pirates ... fire a CD at the base you are neutral to and everyone goes red. Simple fix to that problem. Whenever I pirate where lawfuls are neutral ... I make a point of firing a CD to the battleship or whatever and they go red.
Bounty Hunters should do the same ... Junkers should not be your friends. Kinda gets annoying when I undock from Yanagi to be staring down the barrels of two fully kited Bounty Hunters in Battle Cruisers. Kinda destroys the role play dontcha think?

Oh, definitely agreed there too. I play on both sides of the fence, some further respect to the spirit of the rules here would go a long way.
