I'm being killed, on a regular basis, by capital ships, directly outside of non-friendly bases. Whether its Navy outside Rochester, or a Pirate Dessie outside a Freeport, I don't like sanctions but this is stupid ooRP.
I realize we're letting capships do basically whatever they want with the new rules, but is pew-pewing outside a hostile base from a Capship that's too big for the base defenses to take down still a sanction-able offense? The expanded rules seem to have already done the impossible and further skewed the ratio of Caps:Snubs
I'd rather not have to avoid Liberty... seeing it's almost always where most of the Pilots are nowadays, or use tactics like quick-docking, as that's ooRP too...
but if I can be shot at my own front door, what's the damn point?
Also, I feel you. I've gotten used to it by now, though. After a few times of getting cap ships bombarding ouray with missiles trying to kill you for 20 minutes, I just kind of giggle at them then come back with a double nova waran swarm.
Base defense upgrades have been a long time coming. It wouldn't be too hard to deal with this; just give bases hilariously powerful pulse cannons that drain cruiser power cores and shields in 2 - 3 hits. No need to make them instantly kill snubs, just render hostile gunboats and larger incapable of assaulting people near them.
It even works RP-wise - wouldn't a base just want to repel borders in the event of an attack? Killing people means paperwork. As long as the base can defend itself and its friendlies, it has no need to destroy encroaching ships.

You assume too quickly dear Reaver.
CD's on cruisers aren't just used by pirates, but by anyone with a cruiser with a CD, whether the target is trader, pirate, terrorist, police/military, etc... When you take CD's away from cruisers, it makes it an actual warship, which is it's intended purpose, instead of an interceptor, or a ship that goes "LOL PEWPEW ERRRRRYTHING".
When you take away it's CD, it lets the bomber (in this case) or other cheap target for the cruiser just cruise away from the lolcap, and encourages the lolcap to work with snubs more.
Aye I was Voodoo.Child, and I appreciate the Pilot taking the time to chase down this issue on the forum after.
I had been chasing LABCs all over from Texas and back while dodging a Navy on the lanes. I had just been surprised when I picked up more hostiles that pursued so far in such force, after I had chased a lone LABC who did nothing but flee.
But I do understand the point in saying the Navy should pursue a target, especially one you first encountered in front of Manhattan, to Rochester. I'd do the same to any Navy Carrier I was trying to catch all alone. I was a bit frustrated from the combination of shooting through 1500 nanobots for no victory, and the secret jealousy all pirates harbor from not having a friendly Player Base to lure crap into.
Though on a last note I do believe we should boost Base Defenses to fend off big ships. Avoid the 1-shot fighter problem by arming bases with slow moving, long range projectile weapons like nerfed mortars.
Edit: Aye and no CD's for Cruisers! Why would a warship that size be patrolling/stopping traffic... Gunboat is the biggest ship made for stopping and eliminating small ships!
