Now that I have a Freelancer tagged and IDed character up and running, I was wondering whats the deal with routine or intermittant trading under that particular "flag"? The ID permits the use of both Freighters and Transports but the "job discription" part only mentions working for oneself and escorting traders etc....unlike say an IMG one which specifically allows trade as well as mining and fighting type activities. So it looks like you may fly a transport but yet may not work as a trader....which surely can't be how its actually viewed in practice?

My general impression is that you can do as you please in the avadible ships. Freelancers are by description free to do more or less what they like, so I guess that involves trading. All these 'indy' traders should be Freelancers really, but they're too lazy to the IFF...
but it would be most advisable to use only freighters and lowly transporters, such as fit the freelancer bill, perhaps firefly,.... no trains and such.

Good point, after all they are just a single person financing themselves. They have no corperation behind them to secure trade deals or escorts, buy their ship or even buy repairs. they work with what they have- which is usualy very little.
Well yeah...I didn't go through the whole rep manipulation thing just to put him in a train.....I have a Trader for that stuff....I want to keep him in a smallish ,odd/old ship which he can put to multiple uses and that would seem like the kind of thing a single poor but resourceful individual might well aqquire etc......he's gonna remain a small time Jack of all trades....I just wanted to check that any trading activities didn't set OORP alarm bells ringing or whatever...

Experiment with certain "alien" freighters. They can be quite deadly to fighters if you know what you're doing. Such a ship could provide quite a versatile range of options.

Yeah, that seems an excellent suggestion, those sort of ships should do very nicely for him, for now I have him in a Kusari Explorer....mostly because he was "made" from an existing BHG character in an Orca and this ship allowed him to re-cycle all the fittings....but I do want to downsize him and sort of start anew as a FL...also while I'm certainly no fighter Ace sometimes even a GB seems to make progress a little too easy at least versus NPCs....maybe not Nomads but, you know, Rogues and the other "usual suspects".....
