Generally speaking it is very important that you provide installer with original FL installation. That's how it works.
Installer is not designed to be manually extracted. Period. It's only that it uses LZMA compression for some files is why you can open it in 7zip, but that's not the method to use it at all.
Also installer is for fresh installation, not for updates.

The installer does not correctly extract its own files, which is why I have had undertake that task manually. In the first place 7-Zip was also having problems but the latest version correctly reads the archive. Having extracted all of the files and placed them on top of the original installation, and with the updated being applied afterwards, I am now playing the game without any problems.
There are links to images on the first page. No error messages were returned, the installer completes its task but fails to extract many files, way too many to find and list. If you check those images then you might notice that 7-Zip fails to list some files and they are but a few examples.
now im not having a go, but how come as far as i know your the only person to say that the installer doesn't extract files properly, something must be wrong with your comp if it wont install correctly (unless some others can post here with the same problems)
honestly re do the steps i said last time in that order
try uninstalling everything, delete all the files and folders and redo them
Believe me, I tried this upside-down, right-to-left and back-to-front. Now, I do suspect that there may be an issue on my end, maybe the system lacks a few relevant updates (I can't update Windows, it'll use up all my bandwidth), but I've not had any problems with other installations. The fact that the older version of 7-Zip incorrectly read the archive and then the latest one was fine with it, suggests that it's related to the method of compression. There's clearly a compatibility issue somewhere along the lines. Anyway, I'm now having no problems at all with the mod.
ahh good to hear then, but you probably do need to update windows just for security reasons, when you do update you can pick what to update, just do the critical ones
also for future winrar/zip7 whats it called your enitire freelancer folders

Neither has the installer been designed to function automatically. It's bugged, there's clearly a compatibility issue somewhere with regards to the compression method. Has it even been tested against different Windows Installer applications, or was it just assumed to work across all platforms?
Rhodesia was having all sorts of problems in-game. I often saw him being booted for "cheating", which was likely because some files were missing and thus causing a crash. I came to the conclusion that his problem was very similar to my own and so I put my resolution to him, which has so far worked like a charm.
