This issue isn't really game critical but is more of a cosmetical problem. NPC naming. If you select a NPC fighter and read it's name, you'll see it's rank as well if it's a part of a military fation. These ranks should be realistic don't ya think? I've learnt, for example, that the KNF like sending Colonels on suicide missions.
If you sit outside Planet Harris for any length of time, a wing of KNF will attack. Every one of them will be marked as a Colonel. I can imagine the implications that would have on the chain of command, and there's the fact that all of them are going to be reduced to piles of atomised rubble by the McDuff within seconds...
I would have thought a junior ranking pilot would be undertaking such assignments. If the name was to be changed from Col, to Cpt, or heaven forbid! an NCO rank, like Cpl or Sgt I would be happy. I'm pretty sure the ranks arn't just unrealistic in Tau 31, but that's the best example I've found yet.
I'm starting the Campaign For Realisticly Ranked NPCs! (CFRNNPCs)

Yeah, but when you have a wing of five fighters, and every one of then is a senior officer, that doesn't seem quite right. Especialy seeing as the average lifespan of a KNF pilot in Harris orbit is between 5 to 30 seconds. The KN must promote people to Colonel or the sole reason of sending them on suicide missions...

I believe that volunteering for Kamikaze squadrons is seen as good cause for a promotion. It's the least the fleet command can do. Maybe flowers for the bereaved, I guess.
