You may remember our previous correspondence on the topic of possible cooperation between our two organizations, expanding cardimine trade into the Gallic core worlds. We also identified a common enemy between us, the Unione Corse, who we and the brigands compete with over many contraband types. However, before we went into such a deal, you seemed (with good reason, although I do not condone the Royalist actions of past affiliates) wary of our dealings, as we have been previously attached to the Crown, an allegiance I assure you is no longer alive and well. But onto business. We have collected the intelligence you need on the drug known as Nox. Enclosed is an analysis of the sources and effects of this drug, sourced from our resources in Provence.

NOX


LOCATION OF ORIGIN: Planet Marseilles, Provence.


BIOLOGY: Nox is compound produced by a bacterium that lives in a symbiotic relationship with a echinoderm (much like the sea stars of Sol.) The echinoderm is exceedingly fragile and can only be successful kept planet side. The bacterium, however, can be extracted and cryogenically frozen and transported elsewhere. All attempts at synthesis has failed to reproduce the proper mixture of psilocybin and organic compounds. Strangely, nox is known to have a significantly reduced effect on users of cardimine.


BIGGEST DISTRIBUTORS: The Unione Corse owns several production sites on the planet, from which they produce the bacterium. They then freeze the nox for movement to Monaco Base, a small depot in Mere Mediteraniee. Rumors on our Freeports suggest that there is a new, more expensive variety of nox on the market, as a result of an off-planet drug being synthesized. Their main shipping route runs through from Provence to Leeds, where the war torn environment has caused a bloom in crime. There are two routes out of Gallia. The best for smugglers passes through the backwaters of Orkney, Lewis, and Edinburgh. Other routes run to Rheinland and Liberty, where they are relatively anonymous.


VULNERABLE AREAS OF INFLUENCE: Their current vulnerability is concentrated to the Lorraine System, where you have your largest influence, Torino Base, built by yours truly, the Gallic Junkers, where we and the Brigands already purchase cardimine.

Thank you for such a detailed report on what is certainly a bastardized, seemingly mutual enemy in NOX. I admit I'm a bit surprised to learn that it is an essentially organic product, and the Corse certainly have wrangled their hands around its production. While intelligence was certainly what I asked for, and what you delivered, you've peaked my interest in the drug itself. I am hopeful you may be able to help us acquire some of these bacterium for study. Things that come into this world can always be taken out, thankfully, and bacterium are no different.

In the meantime, I'll have our assets on Kirkwall in Orkney on alert to gather as much information on any transport moving the drug as possible. Since we now know where it moves, the routes become much more vulnerable outside of Gallic space.
