Believe it or not, hitting a fighter with an Inferno is one of the best ways to kill someone. Why? Inferno/Nuke combo can be used quite effectively. Other than that, the inferno can also allow you to get someone's shield down at a range that allows you to follow up with guns. This means that for targets that sheild run, they cant do so without losing some hull. If I have a character with an Inferno, I use it in the ways above and it works.
Cosmos you are quite wrong about the pointlessness of using the Inferno to take down fighter shields. They are quite effective.
I must admit that I too, am somewhat perplexed by the Outcast ability to use Infernoes and Debs, but yet the corsairs can use only Del Cids... To the extent that I am pondering removing the debs or Infernoes from the Rogues permitted weapons list. Cat spam will not be tolerated as an answer to this.
Saint Del is considered a holy healer of diseases of children, but also as a protector of cattle.
I don't see why a normally available-to-all weapon (such as the Debs) would be banned to certain factions (Corsair or Outcast or anyone else) just because they have 'better' options available.
.. Eh, I can't help but be in agreement with McNeo concerning the absurd energy requirements for Del Cid's.
When you think about it, they really aren't "superior" to the Debilitators at all, as they're slower all around (you can't fire them as often, and projectile speed/range is lower aswell) AND they require all that energy. I haven't played a Corsair in a long, long time, but I think the Colada has an energy rating of 300 or so. A gun with an energy requirement like that should have a high chance of hitting it's target. Extra damage is only useful if you can actually apply it.
The end result is that most Fighters are stuck mounting only a single Colada, whereas their enemies are able to mount two Debilitators and a Debilitator turret without even breaking a sweat.
My suggestion would be to lower the energy requirements for the Corsair shieldbusters, and to add both a class 7 and a class 8 shieldbuster for them to use.
As much as I hate Corsairs and everything they stand for (no offense), I can't help but agree that it was silly for them to be sanctioned for using Debilitators.
