Well, true, codenames make other weapons suck. Non-codenames are a bit part of RP. My fighter, for example is a heavily modified Valkyre (i don`t like calling it a "wrath") armed with beautiful Rheinland plasma and tachyon weps, though they aren`t SO powerful. I`ve never seen anyone using BH level 9 weps, Kusari level 9 weps...only codenames and Outcast/Corsair/GMG level 9 weps. Because they are best and everybody wants to have firepower...

mathematically, yeah, they're the worst... but...
you need to calculate the fact that you can't keep a player inside a barrage of... say 5 sec (NPCs mainly run straight at a point)
so, my point: 1 hit and make huge damage or more hits making little damage? it's the prefference of the player IMO
If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor
What about looting some Nomad guns.... problem solved
Class 9 Salamanca or Wyrm are almost as good as coded guns. Of course you need to be really friendly with Corsairs/Outcasts to buy them. Or kill a few Titans/Sabres....
