I. History
Since the colonization of the Sirius system there where mercenaries who wanted to earn money and corporations who needed their service. After the defeat of the Reich and the start of the Republic mercenary business became more complicated. Every small or big faction, corporation, in Sirius has anger at some other and so on. Being real neutral was hard and often the only thing you get as payment was a bullet in the back. A lot of mercenaries died for corrupt corporation, others died in battle and some just quite. For a bunch of them none of these alternatives was acceptable.
This was the start for mercenaries who bond there business and their honor to only one faction. This group of ex soldiers, rough traders, technicians, ex smugglers, miners and former criminals bond themselves to the republic of Rheinland. They agreed to the laws of Rheinland or better said to most of them.
They don’t act as lawfuls as the normal military, they raid or attack every one who is in violation with Rheinland or works for a corporation which belongs to a hostile faction.
They have good reputation with all naval forces due of the old fighting days and because everybody knows someone. The police of every faction is tolerating their fights against terrorists, but they don’t really like their methods or the little chaotic situations which can be created that way.
The greatest threats to everyone in Sirius are the aliens as they believe as they who want to eliminate mankind. Right on second place there are the traitors, terrorist from Rheinland and then all Liberty forces.
The so called Mercenaries of Rheinland, call sight MoR, are only using vessels from this faction, not only because they are proud of those masterpiece in ship construction and due of the economic aspect. When there is more work and money in Rheinland, wealth for all people of the republic is rising as well.
Old rites, stories of old gods and cults are nearly everywhere in their dominion, which have given them little trouble with the church of the god emperor. Of course they stand behind the chancellor, but nearly nobody sees him as a god. But that is a long time ago and in times like that nearly nobody cares about religions.
The pilots of the mercenaries are old hardened veterans, or young recruits who challenge their luck. Even the standard pilot has to accomplish full ground battle training and this costs time other pilots only infest in piloting their fighters or battleships. The traders are professional businessmen with the little sitenote that they sometimes prefer the cargo of another pilot... The miners are quite good, but not as good as the professional miners from Daumann. Year 820 A.S.
At the moment they are under contract by the MND and very tied to the rules of this institution. For example they are not allowed to mine or to fly too big ships. Especially their behavior is very regulated. But this time will end too, and than they are fully free on their decisions again. Year 822 A.S.
In the Year 822 A.S. the contract has end but on a unpleasant way. Rheinland can’t come up with his dept to fully grant them their ships and independence in their decisions. That was a harsh backslash for the mercenary corporation. But they haven’t given up or turned in anger against their government, they sold their not more authorize ships and changed their strategy. They want to regain strength even without Rheinland ships. They searched for a ship-line which fulfill their needs, and found one. Every ships engine, light and weapons have to be tuned to give it the special Rheinland touch. Year 823 A.S.
A strange year has begun... the year in which the "endless war" with Liberty has ended. Politicians make contract, warriors make decisions. We will never forget! We will never forget the fallen, we will never forgive the aggressor. The hostilities everywhere made them understand one thing clearly, there will be no peace in Sirius. As logical step the business sector in the group specialized in arms dealing. They left the other commodities nearly completely and are now only selling guns & war machines. They try not to smuggle stuff and are in contact with the houses & corporations to get the licenses.
II. Description:
The Mercenaries of Rheinland is a quasi legal militant group of individuals who work and fight for Rheinland. The most people are born in Rheinland, but a lot are allies who want to take an active support role for the hail of the republic. Every one of them hates terrorists and aliens. Their tolerance to The Order is very important to them, as they believe in The Orders goals to protect mankind from the Nomad threat. They are not really motivated to fight against the Landwirtrechtbewegung, because a battle against them would support the liberty corporation Synth. Food.
They protect all Rheinland corporations and support the police or the military with weapons & ships if asked, of course for some cash. During their spare time between their protection missions they fulfill strikes against liberty corporations, liberty military forces and of course on terrorists and friends of terrorists.
Their main base is on the wild planet Nuremberg in the Munich system. The base is located far away from the industrial facilities. The weapon producing complexes give the mercenaries the chance to test a lot of ground and ship weapons, other people never even get to know of as their production would be to expensive for example. They have far reaching military training grounds for melee fights, jungle war and urban battles.
There are no real leaders in this mercenary corporation, only the triumvirate. Three individuals who keep the horde in lane.
Their called: the chosen of spirit, the chosen of battle and the chosen of business.
The chosen of spirit is the person who is responsible for the relations to every faction and corporation. He guides his people with best conscience. He commits which faction or corporation is an ally or a foe. He commits the behavior of his men to the enemy and to neutral objectives. He is in command if assassinations are required, sabotage actions, pirating actions, for taking hostages, or to send a clear message to an aggressor, because this are not standard battle procedures.
The chosen of battle is the person who is responsible for the big fleets and all soldiers. He is in charge for all battleships, carriers, and when starting massive attacks on systems. Too his job is to guard systems, bases, or some miners.
The chosen of business is the person who is responsible for the trades and miners with their transports and mining ships. He has to take care that the workers are productive and he is also in charge when long trade flights through a lot of systems have to be done. Chances in the Description 822 A.S.
The Mercenaries gave up a lot to escape politic and endless annoying laws. They will never betray Rheinland military or the Rheinland corporations, but they needed a little distance from the normal troublesome live and duty. The last last years made them more silent but not less dangerous. They never attack at first but always defend their friends and corporation partners. Their hate against aliens, terrorists and liberty is the same as before, and it is never good for one of those pilots to be far away from any station and out of radar range in an asteroid field with a mercenary. As last bastion of honor they swear never to give cargo or credits to a Hessian or Coalition terrorist, even it costs their ship or their live.
The hierarchy has stayed the same, only the names of the titles have changed to subscribe better the new tasks everyone of the triumvirate has to deal with. The Ideological Leader is the person who has to do the diplomacy, creating the laws, and set a common curse for the group. The Defense Leader is the person who’s duty is to protect the group and even organize the protection of corporations which are friendly. He is often seen fighting side by side with his battle brothers. The Economic Leader’s work specially is the dealing with trade, the construction and organization of a base, and finding new resources and planets. The work all three leaders have common is to inspect the ships of their comrades, if the ship and the equipment is correct. Pilots who use unauthorized parts have to pay a fine. Chances in the Description 823 A.S.
As result of the different factions actions the mercenaries changed their diplomacy status. The Core does a lot of good work in the Omicrons and even support Rheinland in their fight against aliens and terrorist. It's clearly visible that there is no future need for the Order, because the Core is now here. Additionally the Order is supporting Bundschuh terrorists and often attacks systems like Frankfurt. There is no good word for this actions. A splinter cell of Unioners and Landwirtrechtbewegung has been formed. Both are patriotic and are no friends of the socialist terrorists. The first want to create a monarchy again and the second want Liberty products out of Rheinland, both things the mercenaries can accept.

Mercenary of Rheinland
The Mercenaries of Rheinland are the Rheinland military corporation, which focus on scouting the boarder worlds, escorting, and arms dealing. They wish to rid Rheinland of Liberty influence. They abide by Rheinland law within Rheinland systems, but can engage in piracy outside of Rheinland borders.
Pilot carrying this quasi-lawful ID is a member of the Mercenaries of Rheinland {MoR}, who:
- Can attack any ship in self-defense or to protect an allied or neutral ship or base.
- Can attack ships which belong to a house or organization considered hostile anywhere, under observance with Rheinland laws in Rheinland house space. Can demand transports which belong to a house or organization considered hostile to drop all cargo and attack if they refuse to comply.
- Can demand cargo and credits from Liberty transports outside Rheinland house space, and attack them if they do not comply.
- Can demand Military Vehicles, Side Arms, Light Arms, Munitions, Black Market Munition, from any ship but outside Rheinland and attack if ships refuse to comply. Ships belonging to Rheinland or allies of Rheinland are exempted from this.
- Can ally with unlawful factions, except Coalition, Red Hessians, Mollys, Nomads, The Wild.
- Can fulfill any bounty and escort contracts.
- Cannot use a transport with more than 4,300 cargo.

Here are some examples for possibilities when you meet traders or smugglers, or other situations etc.:
The most important thing is, support Rheinand corporations and harm Liberty ones or terrorists. Make good money with selling weapons, but don't get any problems with the police forces of the houses.
A. We are not the police, we don't care much about what other pilots carry, or if they fly a forbidden ship line.
B. That does not count if the other pilot has Rheinlanders on board. Protect our people, always.
C. If he has drugs on board, than it's not your problem, but you can help other forces to take him out. Drugs are not welcome in Rheinland.
D. If someone has slaves, then you really should free them. Not of the because of the helping factor, more of the business factor. An empire build on slaves will fall...
E. You meet a pilot who is smuggling alien artifacts or Nomad remains. This goods are dangerous and illegal, if possible join an authority and get them.
F. Pirate and kill Liberty pilots only outside Rheinland house space (with own ID or support an unlawful like LWB).
G. If you meet an DHC, KM, RS or ALG transport or miner, help them for a little tip or for free. Protect them and if required escort them to wherever they want, even it’s the far away Gallia system.
H. If you see a battle between Bretonia & Gallia navy forces don’t interfere, we have a good stand with both.
V. Ship regulation: loadout, tuning, sanctions
Part 1: loadout Guns/Turrets: if possible you should use a Rheinland one, like Flammenwerfer, Rheinland transport turret, etc. Amor: high as useful. Countermeasures: Fortress CM Dropper, Heavy Countermeasure Dropper. Cruise Disruptors: Mosquito, Train, Reinforced. Mines: Ripper, Nuclear. Scanners: Advanced Deep Scanner, Battleship Scanner. Shields: strongest shield useful. Thrusters: Enhanced Thruster, Cheetah Thruster. Engines: VP-E5 Engine MKI, VP-E9 Engine MKI, VP-F2 Engine MKI, VP-G3 Engine MKI, VP-T2 Engine MKI, VP-T2 Engine MKII. Lights: small green 50, medium green 53, large green 56. Docking Lights: normal (do not change).

Part 3: Sanctions
A person who uses a ship which is not on the list have to pay 10 Million to the staff, if it happens the first time. If caught a second time the person have to pay 50 Million.
Special weapons only on permission of the staff.
