Otherwise you only see some lights and a few dots of a snub. In general I'd adjust your ENB-series to make the game 10-20% brighter, so you have automatically a bit more contrast which helps to define shapes. And try to make one ship in the focus. The focus shouldn't be the shots, as they are literally just shots. The ships however are detailed models. Also, since Freelancer doesn't have a realistic shading engine, I'd try to make sure the ships aren't overlapping each other. Like on the last picture, where it's hard to see where the Cupholder ends and the Overlord begins.

I figured the overlapping one would confuse some. As for getting closer, it's not easy when everyone's constantly moving. the better shots are more reliant on the smaller ships which make it far more difficult for me to grab. I'll see how taking just the ships & environment will go from now on. As for the brightness, I've not a clue how to fix that. I thought increased gamma would work, but it didn't so you suggested the ENB-Series which i also have no idea what it is. could you perhaps clarify it?

That is the graphical mod Discovery uses to make things bloom and what not. You can use the search function of the forum or Google to find the tutorial to edit your own ENB-series ini. I know there was a tutorial specifically for Discovery/Freelancer on the starport. It is basically an ini file you are allowed to edit, in your discovery files. Some values allow you to edit the general brightness while using the bloom effect. I think it was the something related to the day-value in the bloom section, as day means literally "bright textures will be brighther".

Don't mind the casually floating turret down to the bottom, and a little to the left haha.

I probbably will upload them groups at a time before dispensing the entire lot, i have to clean out the folder anyhow so i might dump it all to the imgur site
