If some players wish to spend LOTS of their time and money in collecting sci data , let them , dont be jelous becouse you are to lazy to do same .
I dont have single one and i dont mind if somone has 5000 , becouse he spent a lot for that , while i was to lazy to do same .
Why punish people for their dedication ?

The problem with "riddles" and alike to find Derelicts easier is the simple matter of fact that you are not the only person who tries to solve it. In the end, it is more work for the greens to create creative riddles - they can't just take examples from the community as at least one person would recognize it - while in the current version, it is simply a matter of luck and dedication, or team effort. We have around 120 systems available for ships without jump drives, a few dozens more with jump drive (Uncharteds, ???, Atmosphere, etc). It looks like it is much to comb as a single person.

But this is not a singleplayer game. There are 200 different people login into the game per day, not all at the same time obviously, and all of them fly around in all kinds of systems. Some of them want to discover and see systems from different angles and just happen to be faster than the others. The important difference between this way of giving Sci-Data into the hands of the players and PvE/PvP-Events is simple: There are no fighting skills required. Just time on the server, flying around, exploring. Some do it passively, some do it actively.

And there is nothing wrong with that. Dedication should always get rewarded.

Long story short, the way it is right now it is fine. Don't expect too much from the greens, they are already doing much. Maybe we can get a nice riddle here and there, but the concept itself is fine and doesn't need a change. The focus may rather be on active events like the nice escort/intercept event today.

Voted yes because missions need to be re-introduced as a more fun game progression than just boring trading with a bit of mining.

This can additionally be achieved my making restarts not give full rep, to make mission repping a thing again.

Missions were a major activity driver in places like Omicron Alpha and Minor (possibly more places, but those were the ones I'm familiar with).

But missions need to be adjusted too: They need to be doable by both snubs and caps (so NPCs should be only snubs with the occasional GB that can be killed by a player snub too). You can make the NPC snubs very tough and numerous, but they should be winnable by the top tier snub pilots. The Order missions in 4.85 Alaska and Minor were excellent examples of activity-driving missions. They should also be (exclusively) available in places that also have other activity magnets (such as mining, trading, and being close to busy routes). Players need to be concentrated to places where they will meet others even if they are playing as single players.

That's what adds to the thrill of it. It becomes an actual competition with a degree of skill, rather than whoever can sink the most time into the endeavour. It's also a lot more engaging too and can lead to better RP.

I'd expect that whoever makes the suggestion would show as much restraint as the Staff does when it comes to solving their own Derelicts. The Staff would probably follow up on whoever is ruining the fun for everyone else. Taking Skorak's advice, I'm currently thinking up some ideas to suggest.

That won't change with the system being riddle/deduction based. At least with the concept in my head, it'd be like an Easter Egg Hunt: you still go out exploring, but you've at least got some direction to point you to where you need to go. This makes the system overall much more inclusive as it greatly widens the scope in which players can partake and have a chance in nabbing some goodies. Comparatively, the current system favours those who - in the nicest way possible - don't have other responsibilities and obligations to occupy their time, and can dispense their time on things such as spending five hours blindly looking for custom POB models.
