I support a review of official factions, especially those who have been here a long time. Or at least make it a requirement to have a feedback thread, which I don't think is the case (or am I just being confused today?).
At the least, for unofficial factions, I'd like if one of those random messages that pop up suggested registering unofficial factions so that people are able to contact them if there's an issue. That's the biggest complaint I hear about unofficial factions and indies - official factions are easy to get ahold of if there's an issue.

That wouldn't really fix it. Some people just don't listen to criticism well, including in official factions. Moreso those that have been around longer, it seems.
I am not talking about the QCP/AFA crap! Just making that clear.
Um... the Brotherhood recently decided to change its tag from
[+]Name
to
Name[TBH]
Any ships with the [+] tag should be in the process of renaming.
The [TBH] suffix tag was our original tag, I remember that we changed to [+] after we failed to use the other cross that more resembled our faction logo. We're going back to our roots right now, so we're taking up our old tag again.
On the topic at hand, I don't much see the point in limiting the number of unnofficial factions. They are generally composed of people who want to play the game their way, yeah, but lots of people want to play the game their own way. That way might not conform to the way that the overall faction is played or represented by the official wing of it.
Even if it were possible to do, I wouldn't support it. That said, I dont see many unnoficial Corsair factions that have managed to survive for more than a few weeks at most, so it might be because this doesnt affect my primary faction that much.
A review of all the official factions would be good though. Some may have slipped, whereas others may have dramatically improved. I want to see the results of a review, actually.

Agreed, I would love for something like that to happen. I don't know why any self respecting faction leader wouldn't.
Actually I would love to see feed back on the Unofficial factions. Since I am trying to run one and eventually go official. Seems most folks around here do not care all that much about the unofficial ones. I have had an intent thread up for months and have gotten very few responces. Recruiting is not easy, but then again maybe my nitch for OSI is too small. Also timing it right before 4.85 came out was a bit of a bad idea. While I may not have to work as hard as some faction leaders I still have to do the upkeep, diplomacy, find new trade routs, test ships, ect, ect. It is still alot of work. Getting feed back on my ideas and how we are doing would be great.
As for Agmen's comment, yes there are a ton of unofficials out there and it is impossible to keep track of all of them. Could we perhaps get a forum where we can post our intent threads for feed back that is separate from general discussion? This was we can have all of them in one place? This would also give anyone looking for a faction only two places to look. The official recruitment thread and The unofficial faction threads? When a faction goes official their post in the unofficial forum could be deleted.
As for reviewing the official factions, well I think some of that is done already. Seeing those post from our Reverend about I need to see leaders for X, Y and Z factions. Or when an entire faction gets jailed if enough. If a faction is doing the right thing why should they come up for review?
