And yes Yue, but that doesn't mean that they want to eradicate the humans.

Edit: Even though Daam K'vosh sounds better:( Personally I think we should just use that K'vosh thing..

Nomad backstory calls the Nomads the Slomon K'hara and spells the DK as Daam K'Vosh.

As for Nomad plans, the Nomads don't have the strength to overpower humanity in a contest of brute force. They never did, and that is unlikely to change by itself. What they did have was the element of surprise, cunning, and the ability to manipulate human tendencies. Well, that and the ability to assimilate humans into their forces- which was only practical large-scale before people knew about the Nomads. What continues to this day of that is on a far smaller degree, and serves more to replenish forces than to acquire vast numbers. Now, they have cunning, organization, fear, and the ability to manipulate human tendencies. Their military forces are not insignificant, but they can't just invade. They need to weaken the forces of the houses somehow (gee, wonder how they might achieve that... *looks at Leeds*), and preferably find another way into house space that isn't watched by the order (hmm, that's a very nice Alien Jump Gate in Omega-58...). There are plans, and they are not nearly so simple as ***DESTROY***.

And what's this "reunite the whole race" thing? You mean grab the ones that got thrown through the hypergate? That would probably require opening the hypergate full-tilt once more, which would do a lot more harm than good. For the energy that would take they could just build more ships. The issue with the hypergate was the power-drain, not the actual loss of forces through it. If it was just losing ships into it, humanity would have gotten annihilated from the combined Liberty and Rheinland militaries, as well as the full array of Nomad ships not in Omicron Major.

I don't understand what other sort of a goal you could possibly be trying to express.

First, understand, we're not leaving. We've billions living on the planets, and nowhere near the ships to move them if we were so inclined. We are, actively, stronger than the nomads, as well. You can't ask us to leave our ancestral home after living here for 800 years and expect us to take you seriously as the real owners of said space. You were away for 800+ years, then came back and started trying to get us to leave...well. We look around, see where our grandparents grew up, their grandparents, even their grandparents. Excuse me? This is our home.

I think the distinction between 'nomads aren't hostile' and 'nomads just want to get humans out of their space' are rather...flimsy. This is humanity's home, has been for 800 years. We're not going anywhere. To achieve that goal, the nomads have to be hostile, or very manipulative(which involves incubuses, which murders people, hostile act, there).

As far as humans are concerned, nomads very much are out to kill everyone.

Nomads want their home back.
To do this they need to get rid of humanity.
In any way possible.

So yes, they are distinctly hostile since we are the invaders in their eyes. Much the same as how they are evil aliens in the eyes of many humans.

What I would like is some more development of the K'vosh. Nothing concrete, nothing properly explained. Just more tantalising hints or whisps of memories long gone.
Valhalla 1 for instance, Cardimine for instance, Sirius as a whole for instance.

Yes it is fantastic to have a long gone empire that is out of reach of our comprehension or knowledge but sometimes giving a hint here or there can be even better and give a slightly, even a tiny amount, fuller picture.

Well, I am basing my opinion on the original Freelancer SP camapign. Why ? You may ask. Well, because I think we shouldn't just completely forget or rewrite anything that happened in it.

There the players first contact with the nomads ended with disaster, they reduced FP 7 into ashes for an artifact quite significant I agree but still... if that wasn't a violent act, then tell me what it was.

Also the leaders of Rheinland got possessed, if I remember correctly one of your NPC companions mentions that Rheinland began acting strangely since one of their archeologist teams made a significant discovery.

The Nomads should have just erased the Rheinlanders memory, put the key back to where it belonged or if really needed dispose them and make it look like an incident, Nomads are quite cunning afterall.

So all in all instead of trying to communicate. They used subterforge, cunning, stealth (cloaking device on the pesky Rh ships) to try and destroy most of humanity. Not by themselfes, mind you, that is the reason they wanted to possess the most important leaders of each of the four Houses, and engulf Sirius in a war, thus the humans will do the dirty job for them by killing each other.

This is why most people, look at them as a threat, in my opinion.

p.s.: sorry if my post isn't too pleasant to look at, I will try to shake it into shape

I like RP, where R stays for Role, not Retard.
