First thing I thought when I saw it, pretty much the same design, but with a more squared off nose and a better looking cockpit. The fact it has a texture that isnt one color gives it a lot more detail over the Slipstream.
' Wrote:As far as I know, Xing's Sabre has been deleted. It also wasn't quite what we were looking for, being an even more deadly looking VHF. As revolutionaries, we are trying to win the hearts of the people, not give them heart attacks everytime they see us. We want to be cheered, not feared.
Now onto my opinions:
I think it's quite neat. I can see the clear civilian influence, although I'm not too sure of that, but also some Rheinland and Borderworld Elements. The problem with making it so civilian based is that no Bundschuh NPCs and possibly only one or two players fly the Civilian line. Bundschuh NPCs fly the Stiletto exclusively, except for the guards who fly Sabres.
I do like how its got Rheinland-style armour plating, Borderworld-style daggerboardish thing on the bottom. I agree with Ktayn that adding in a bit more Borderworld to the bottom fin would go a lot further in emphasizing the Borderworld line reliance that the Bundschuh have.
As for the engine, I'm unwilling to make a final verdict as of yet. A rear-view would be nice, but until then, I think that the single-engine is an interesting concept. I assume that the pod-like component is somehow involved in the engine, which I like. It gives it a somewhat modular design, something a small group like the Bundschuh would definitely do.
I just see something a little odd at the top of the cockpit. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be this way, but it looks like the cockpit recesses prior to meeting the hull, leaving a peculiar gap between the "glass" and metal.
For the texture, I believe we are aiming to shy away from the tradition dark foreboding Rheinland green. We were considering going for a brighter, newer looking green. Sort of a Rheinland 2.0 look. Brighter green with possibly some white, I think.
The lower-fin weapon mounts also bother me a bit. There's nothing there really for the weapons to stick to. I would prefer if either the fin became a tad more substantial, or if it loaned a concept from the Stiletto/Switchblade and provided something of a minor weapons platform there. I'm also assuming that the CD/T mount would go in the traditional chin location.
I've been thinking a lot , about what I should say about the design you came up with , Jinx. Quite frankly , I think that Rashnok pretty much said it all.
It is a very good raw model and with the "rheinlandish" paint it looks .. well .. rheinlandish.
Now , people have stated that except for the color , the ship doesn't look anything like Rheinland ships. Well , that was our goal from the start ! We don't want our ships to remind people of old , dark green , fascist Rheinland. We want them to see something new , something that will inspire them , drift their imagination away from the closed minds of the nation. If the ship doesn't look "rheinlandish" , that means we are on the right track.
The current model , reminds me of something which will do very well in open space combat , with no rocks or debris involved , because of it's wing span. But those are exactly the circumstances we prefer to fight , for that , I don't think that the Civilian line of ships , mostly their shared features , work well for us. Like Rash suggested , perhaps use the Switchblade as an inspiration ?
Jinx , when you said that we , the Bundschuh , will look for the most effective , you where correct , but it looks like this is too simple.

If they showed in forces with militaristic vehicle showing strength and patriotic markings, I would cheer their might.
You're probably not the best person to give an opinion on such a matter, in my opinion.
Just because it claims your profession in your userbar doesn't mean that you need to employ your skills at every opportunity. Keep it on topic sah. -DL
Oh, I can still edit. Just going to point out that despite originally being a military coup, the Carnation Revolution in Portugal was, in large numbers, people using flowers to identify themselves.
Influenced by the Sabre , I decided to try something up , and here is what I came up with.
I'm fully aware that it may be eye souring , for many to see such a nice model ... "re-modeled"... in such brute and harsh way , but my skills are laughable at best.
So here is what I came up with , something which kinda reminds people of a star from the front.
The two stabilizers near the engine might even meet on the top , completing the "star" shape of the ship from the front. But even if they are not , it still gives it a new look , I think.
Now , the part of the "neck" near the cockpit , the part which I circled" , I don't like. You said that it should be a part of the birds of pray series , but that neck reminds of a vulture , hardly a "honorable" and "noble" feathered animal. So perhaps making it curved , like a blade of some sort or straiten it. Not really sure if it looks good , but perhaps after you tweak it a bit , it will look better ?
