Well, the hardpoints are called 'Gun/Missile' slots for a reason. Just remove the missile capability, and you're done. No need to limit the amount of ammo that can be mounted.

There's no difference between Gun and Missile slots. The change isn't as simple as that. You can't have gun only slots, and you can't have missile only slots.

Actually, reducing shield capacity on caps and upping their hull would move them closer to vanilla, where they had no shields at all...and one could conceive fighters blowing off capital equipment in vanilla...assuming they aren't the "blow-em-up-with-catapults" style capship...
