I joined up as an escort with a trading faction on my 'main' character and I'm loving it. Haven't seen a PvP fight with him yet, and I don't care - I suck at PvP, anyway. We trundle around the parts of Sirius that we trade with in convoys of 4 ships or so, make idle chatter about all the things we see around us and generally don't worry about anything more than the difficulties posed by jumpgates and sucky autopilots. We don't need to worry about pirates, because I can't imagine the '2 MILLION OR DIE!' sort are not all that likely to stick around to face off against a convoy, leaving just the decent sort who provide good RP. Maybe joining a trading faction of some sort would get you interested again.
But, then, my experience is very limited. There are probably heaps of interesting groups to join.
(I also have a semi RP trader/semi power trader and an indie LN ship, both of which pale in comparison to my escort fighter in terms of the fun I get from them)

Nah military force on second place. Kusari must stay safe from within. Join Kusari State Police, if this is another propaganda thread....

Actually, I see your comment as being a sign of the times. Everything is all wrapped up in two hours at the movies, so you're happy. CSI on TV solves these deep and mysterious crimes in an hour - regardless of the minor detail that some of the tests they do sometimes take a couple of weeks to get results.
You can get more out of this game by investing more effort into it. It looks like you're skimming things - only pulling the dead flies off the surface and not actually diving into the pool. This is a ... (I know, but I have to say it) ROLE-PLAYING server. You want to see what being an outcast is - dive in, talk with long term members, maybe even read the faction write-ups on here. Read the message dump. Come up with some RP for your characters, and then actually PLAY them that way in game.
For example, my BH Dessie is commanded by a religious zealot female, and I play her that way. My LPI fighter is a street cop that's out to enforce the law and do his job right - but he's a clock watcher, so when it's coffee break time, he's taking it. My Harvesters - well, they're true AI's, seeking the Alpha Code, scanning and updating their databases.
In other words - if you want to go frag someone, go play Halo on Xbox. If you want the chance to get in depth and explore things - actually open your mind and get INTO the game. (It's possible, it's fun, and it can help keep you young - I've been playing RP games fo more than 30 years.)

I found the first weeks to be the least joyful of my stay on this server. then, I joined a faction. Then, another. And then another couple of factions. Since then, I've had a lot of fun. If you're bored of the RP you get in the factions you are in, join another one. Maybe also make an indie Merc, hunting for bounties is a lot of fun as well.
