its weird, but even though corsairs rely on artifact smuggling order still don't like it. Artifacts are even contraband in minor after all. The order's goal is to keep alien technology out of sirius (among other things) so stopping the smugglers ranks a little bit higher than corsairs grinding out profit.

I've seen 2 Liberty police guys smuggling artifacts from that base in ...dresden is it?

About artifact trade:

There is DKV artifacts, as sold by honnest hard working Corsaires and their allies, and there is nomad technology and nomad brains.

They are not the same.

2 theoretical examples:

An honnest corasire, lets call him Ernesto, does artifact trade from Crete to anywhere in the Universe, to anyone. That is admirable, because he enhances humanities knowledge of the DKV who created teh nomads, and gives us a standing chance against those who want to make us extinct. Humanity was saved by an artifact and artifact smuggling in the first nomad war. Some misguided ex-members of the Order qho refused my guidance have said that DKV artifacts must not be spread, because nomads will learn through them. Nomads were created by true godly beings (who evolved, and were not created) such as the DKV and us, and thus can not evolve or learn like us. You can hear it in their senseless rambling always and their inability to learn even the most basic human grammar. THerefore, those ex-Order people were misguided.

Then lets take another Corsair, call him Montezuma, who sells Nomad technology not to the Order, but to the highest bidder. Nomad technology is bad for you. It is used by nomads to manipulate and subvert. To keep those lusting for its power killing each other, so that they can take over. A prime example could be seen half a year ago, when the powerhungry LSF ran rampant in New York, shooting up inniscent people with these guns, acusing them of being infected with the imaginary oorp virus, when in fact their brains had lost all human self-awareness because the nomad technology was messing with it. The consequences of these actions can still be seen throughout Sirius today, the seeds of hatred that had been sown then are weakening the human community to leave them helpless against the real enemy. Those LSF were the heralds of the apocalypse.
Where was I... oh yes... Montezuma must die.

In essence, all nomad technology must go to the Order. Only we can withstand the influence that nomad technology has on our brains.
